Google Chrome Issues

Hello, I have recently been having issues with Google Chrome (v39.0.2171.71 m) on my home PC. When I search using the omnibar or even through https://www.google.co.uk/, I've been getting error messages. The issue does not affect Internet Explorer 11 or Firefox 34.0.5. Naviagting to websites manually (typing the URL) works perfectly, it only appears to be affecting Google Search. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

I performed a basic search for CutePDF and it displayed:
This webpage is not available

Hide details
The webpage at https://www.google.co.uk/search?&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=cutepdf&oq=&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.80642063,d.d24&ion=1&biw=1920&bih=955&ech=1&psi=X-6FVN--OceqUdWzhPAP.1418063454630.3&ei=X-6FVN--OceqUdWzhPAP&emsg=NCSR&noj=1 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error code: ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED
Here's a screen shot of the error: http://tinypic.com/r/2my29p5/8

I've tried the following steps:

1) Downloaded and installed the latest version
2) Uninstalled Chrome completely and installed a clean version
3) Cleared all cache/temp data (including using CCleaner)

I do not have any extensions enabled (the only one that is installed is Google Docs, but that is disabled) and do not connect through a proxy (home network).

I am currently unsure what to do to resolve this issue. Please help!

    I have Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 m

No problems with that, works as you would expect.

You do have extensions (plugins) put chrome://plugins in to the address box and you can see them.
On mine currently 14 listed though some are obviously to do with Application installs.

You can disable all of these if you wish.

The only one listed in chrome://extensions per se is Google Translate enabled.

    Change from Google search
    Try
    www.gibiru.com
    www.ixquick.com
Both of those will allow you to surf as anonymous

I too find Chrome unstable at times. When it plays up I just close it and revert to IE which seems to be just fine these days. Very tempted to go back to IE permanently

    Use Opera.

It uses the same branched web engine, that being Blink.
There are plenty of choices, many that still use the old webkit.

For interest, here are the current HTML 5 compatibility charts.
It is a shame that is is such a limited list but the lack of development from others is quite telling. Its hard for web developers to move towards that standard if the big companies self interest precludes it.

I ran into this blank pages problem recently. Solution 3 (deleting all files in local storage folder) worked for me. It's not the same issue as you're getting but it might be worth a try.

There is an ever increasing set of security problems at the ISP end so much of it might not be google.

I get blank screen problems and I almost never use Chrome.
