I don't for one minute imagine she's going to put him in a wooden hut. She probably means a cabin like this....

Looks nice, I think some people on this thread were imagining it more like this

He needs constant supervision as it is & when bigger & older will still need it just as much & possibly even more. Somewhere away from the house is NOT acceptable unless she puts someone at one of her windows watching his "cabin" through binoculars. Any independence given to him needs to be within her home.....his own bedroom & living area. Or in sheltered accommodation under 24 hr supervision.

    Of course he does.
Surely it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it may have occurred to someone that there will be additional accommodation for his carers in this "cabin"?

Most likely, but if Harvey was my child, I'd want it to be attached to the house in some way.

The piece I quoted ^ did make it sound like a 'shed', which is unfair really.

He will still be in the same grounds as his mothers house and willl have contact with her everyday I'm sure.. Katie is right to think ahead as there may come a time when the family can no longer support his needs and constant specialist care is required

Actually Lexi, I was thinking more along the lines of this nice metal one - far more weatherproof.

She's got plenty of cash to have a couple of picture windows cut in the sides. ;)

I think building a purpose built home for Harvey on her land is brilliant.. This will enable him to have an independant life yet still be in touch with his family daily..

I agree with you Betty , and I'm sure KP will put safeguards in place.
She's doing the best for Harvey here IMO, semi-independent living while making sure he's safe.
    Good idea KP.

She said in her programme about Harvey ( Frankie Boyle one ) that she had made provisions for him if anything happened to her and that she would make sure he was looked after when she was gone..

I can fault her for a lot of things but not for making sure that things are in place for Harvey in case anything happens to her. She is making sure that princess and junior don't have to worry about what to do for the best for Harvey, and no doubt making sure her wishes are catered for.

I'm sure the "shed" will be a Carlsberg type of shed...the best she can buy. Which she is lucky that she can do it...I'm sure that other parents would love to be able to do this for their children.

Other children when adults can get places in supported houses..that what I did for social services (support officer) . There is a lot of placements available. Katie is lucky she is financially secure to be able to provide what she wants for him ..

Whatever I think of her antics, I have always thought that her decisions where Harvey is concerned were always in his best interests. It's pretty obvious that she dotes on him, and will always put his needs first. No, I think the log cabin close by is a good idea.

She also said that Harvey will always live with her throughout his adult life, and no relationships she has in the future will ever change that.

I can't fault her where Harvey is concerned.
