They started filming and a photo of actor Jared Leto as the Joker was released on Twitter: LINK

He looks pretty crazy. I never read the comics but the idea behind it is very interesting: A secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. This film will be released in August 2016.

My prediction is Dawn of Justice slightly disappoints but Suicide Squad becomes a critical and commercial mega hit.

Looks like something you would expect to see from a YA film.

The tattoos are overkill. The damaged tattoo has already been mocked to Mars and back and for good reason, it's insulting to the audience.

I'm sure Leto will put in a great performance, but this look is just awful.

They do. It's also nice to see a focus on them and for them to get some good character development.

Uninteresting and underdeveloped villains are usually the biggest con for superhero TV and films.

Not keen on the tats, but I am glad that the Joker's smile is no longer due to disfigurement.

Nicholson's nerve damage and Ledger's "Chelsea smile" always seemed crude ways to force a perpetual grin. The Joker's smile should be because he's a madman. And, to be honest, Leto does look like a madman in that pic.

To be fair, the Joker's classic "Zoot Suit" outfit was contemporary fashion when it first appeared in the comics. I'm surprised it has been preserved so reverently over the years.

Not surprised by this. It's hardly the first time Jared Leto has been on the cover of Kerrang.

I'd be more worried by dir. David Ayer - Fury and End of Watch were shockingly trite.

I think it's pretty cool, for Halloween, cool photos and all but they do seem to be trying way too hard. I'm sure most will love it and I'm glad it's different but it's just a bit tacky for me.

It should come naturally but come on 'HAHAHA', 'Damaged' and a big smiley tattoos... Just no and lol at the 'scars'. Quick glimpse - great, but when you actually look it's a bit meh

The tattoos are not promising because it looks like the approach is to spoon feed the audience instead of allowing script and performance tell us these things about the character.

Yeah all the suicide squad but no Joker as I expect the Joker to feature at the start and the end of the suicide squad but I think the film will mainly be about the suicide squad mission

This is just DC and Warner Brothers using films like BVS and Suicide Squad to slowly build up major villains like the Joker until we eventually get a new Batman film with the Joker as the main villain!
