Blackberry Curve problem accessing webmail

Hello - I wonder if someone can help me. My new Blackberry Curve 8520 arrived yesterday - I'm on Orange pay monthly.
I am using wi-fi to connect to the internet and I have browsed and downloaded apps etc. However, what it won't let me do is get on to my btinternet webmail. I have entered my username and password ( which I can only do if I switch to colum view), but it constantly comes back to say that they are invalid. I don't want to associate the e-mail address with my blackberry, but I do want to look at it via webmail.
Has any one else had this issue, and does anyone know if I can resolve it ?
