So is it conceivable then that the piece of art on display here is ridiculously OTT reactions such as yours?

The very fact it shocks you so much is so notable that that was perhaps exactly what the artist is going for.

A piece on just how amazingly judgmental people are..

'Art' doesn't just mean pictures of flowers, realistically it can be anything which demonstrates expression, opinion or attitude.

i did not use the word ''offend'' or ''shocked'', don't try and pin words on me that i never used.
you obviously don't have an issue with bollox and i'm ok with that, you on the other hand seem to be offended by what you perceive as my shock and offence.
i used the term ''makes me sick''.

Fair enough, I'd say 'makes me sick' is a far stronger way of putting it than 'shocked' or 'offended'. I was if anything trying to soften it somewhat.

You feel sick because of this? That's OTT. My point remains.

Why do you feel you can dictate what art is?

By the way, I'm not offended.. genuinely very curious as to your reaction.

They should take their act onto Britain's Got Talent, because if a bunch of Poles throwing shapes behind a screen can win it, Bumversity will steal the show.

oh dear, an apology for my ''OTT'' response will not be forthcoming.
besides he's missed the boat with exploring attitudes to sex, channel 4 beat him to that with sexbox so he's hardly original.
yes, im aware the sex in that happened in private.

I'm not after an apology. You do have a funny way of interpreting stuff don't you?

He clearly didn't miss the boat that much given your reaction ;)

I was thinking that. If there was nothing to be demonstrated by said exhibition then studied indifference would be the response. Being made to feel sick etc etc pretty much nails down things.

Dunno why the non-interested have any spikey response at all tbh.

the response was nothing t do with the sex but a reaction to people who will try to sell us anything as art, he could copulate with a cup for all i care.
i could eat toast in my gazebo....the result would be the same...f.eck all to do with art.

Indeed. I'm still suprised and curious that it could evoke such powerful negative reactions from people, and art is only ever really created with the intention of causing reactions.. so looking at it with that context.. it's not a bad idea when you analyse the responses here!

I think you've misunderstood what art is. Also, I don't think he's trying to 'sell anything'.

Many artists are poor and do what they do for more intellectual and altruistic reasons.

Oh please, it's some dope looking for attention, which is what the other poster was referring to when he said it made him sick (which was obvious hyperbole you're cynically treating as something meant to be taken literally).

It's his first time, I don't think it'll go on long enough for an interval.

Easily possible, but I wonder why you jump to that conclusion so quickly? Do you really find it impossible to believe there's a point to be had here?

And hyperbole or not, it's a pretty 'strong' thing to say it makes you feel sick, which is why I then downplayed it to 'offended' but the poster felt that misrepresented his feelings. Nope, he feels sick alright.

What's art then? Not what isn't art, what is? Genuinely interested. :)
