Activating a used Super Hub 2

Hi, thinking of buying a really cheap used Super Hub 2 I saw in a shop. Do I need to call Virgin to activate it? If so, will it be an issue that its second hand?

    Usually Virgin wont activate second hand stuff on a new account as technically it shouldnt have been sold in the first place as its still Virgin media property
