This is the bane of my existence on this forum. Appreciation threads are just plain unnecessary and slightly fan-girlish but I must admit reading them from time to time gives me either a)the hugest laugh i have had in along time; b)sends shivers down my spine or c) makes me despair for humanity. (Sometimes all in one thread)
I know! the worst is on the BB forum where youve got people still appreciating certain HM's that were on BB 2 years ago! it's so weird, and a little bit sad actually
Dire poetry threads about the burning issues of the day. When I see a certainly name I don't even open the thread now even if the thread title is quite interesting sounding.
It's easy to forget now, but some people needed to post a thread a day in showbiz about how Cheryl might not be the be-all and end-all of British popular culture. For your unique insights, I salute you...
I know I'm going to regret asking, but what is revenge porn?
Say a fellow forum member (We'll name no names) called 'Female_Fox' posts a horrible Daily Mail story about some monster who's been found guilty of being horrible to a child. Apart from Female_Fox's original post, there isn't really much to debate in the thread except about what you'd do to the monster if you get your hands on them. That's revenge porn.

I prefer to call it grief porn. Cue lots of hand wringing and hangings too good fer 'm posts and nothing else.
The threads that pop up every October asking whether we should scrap the change from BST to GMT, and then a week later, when everybody's used to the new time and the darkness, it's all forgotten about. Until the following October.

I know the ones you mean
Female_Fox is a good choice of cover name

Not to mention the October/November Poppy shitstorm.

I tend to think grief and revenge porn are different (one specialises in hand-wringing, the other in getting a bone on for torture), but there IS a lot of crossover, and both are incredibly tedious.
As is, now I come to think of it, the "hey, I saw CSI once so now I'm Quincy and will use someone else's personal tragedy to show off my mad detective skills" post. The three often coincide to create a vacuum of utter tedium, relieved only by its immense levels of bad taste, and with the occasional exciting bit where people get libellous.

Oh, thank goodness for that!!!! I was expecting an altogether different reply.
Thanks for the explanation, Voynich. (I may need to delete my browsing history after googling the term though - google suggested some very dodgy sites!)
Any threads with a "clique" of regular posters who seem to ignore or disregard occasional posters, I find them rather tedious more than boring! But they can get boring when they turn into personal conversations between a few posters about their personal lives!
Any "United Kingdom vs <name of country>" sort of threads, ESPECIALLY "United Kingdom vs the United States" sort of threads!
I haven't seen any of the UK vs US threads, but imagine they wouldn't be close to boring. Watching patriotic Americans and patriotic people from the UK getting angry about trivialities sounds quite entertaining :D

Boasting that is thinly disguised as a problem and posted in Advice ("My girlfriend says my huge penis is too much for her")
Ones about farting/bowel movements
Or Politics.
Or WUM threads.
*yawn*

Yes, I would say that too chris.

Love how you automatically assume it's little boys starting the thread when it's been women starting it on occasion. It's a bit of fun, lighten up.
The threads where people post photos and use a message board as a personal blog site.
The made up stories of monotony by attention seekers.
