if itv 2 out does bbc2 and channels 4 and 5 in the ratings last night why now in a digital age are tv guides still giving the first 5 channels better print spaces as everyone has access to all free channels now shouldnt the most popular take pride of place as the focus is no longer on just 5 channels at all.

doesnt that depend on who owns the rights to the shows format, or where the BBCs current contract is.

IF its up for renewal, then the commercial channels, could look to outbid the BBC for future series, if the commercials have an agreement with Alan Sugar, the BBC wont put up a real fight for future use of the format.

i guess if the format could be changed and still offer young people hope in this mess up world it would still work if sugar was involved young apprentice never been a massive hit so could be a brand new format with new name, if i was head of itv, channel 4 or 5 id offer to help sugar help the young as he clearly does want to do etc

I agree Alan Sugar could present a new format for ITV, but its going to seem pretty odd, if he still does the adult series on BBC as well.

Excellent for The Big Reunion to increase week-on-week to 1.1m (1.3m inc +1) and to be infront of BBC2, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
"5's Winter Road Rescue actually tied with The Big Reunion with 1.12m (4.9%), although the latter attracted a higher peak and pipped Road Rescue by a tiny margin of ten thousand viewers."

But yeah, fair play. It was always going to be a hit. If ITV2 put as much thought into their commissions generally it could actually be a good channel that people want to watch.

Brand new US drama #Nashville launched on More4 last night at 10pm and drew 394k, up +78% on slot average

    @C4Press
ITV has ordered a second series of Sunday night period drama Mr Selfridge, in which Entourage star Jeremy Piven will continue in his role as flamboyant American retail entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge.

The new 10-part series will move the story on to 1914 and the onset of the first world war, with the challenges that brings. Mr Selfridge's second run next year will coincide with the centenary of the start of the four-year conflict.

Mr Selfridge will be written by the same team, headed by Andrew Davies, and all the key actors are returning. One theme will be a reconciliation between the philandering Selfridge and his family.

The recommission, in the middle of the current series, reflects the ratings success, with consolidated audiences – including seven-day, catch-up viewing – so far averaging 8.5 million, with a peak of 9.4 million. Mr Selfridge has had the measure of BBC1's darker Ripper Street in the ratings in the Sunday 9pm slot.

Up 78%? Slot average would be about 86k for that matter.

Anyone have the ratings for Dani's Castle on CBBC between 17:15 and 17:45 yesterday?

Up 78% would give a slot average around 221k, not sure where you got 86k from?

ABC's Shonda Rhimes night (9-11pm) went up last night with Grey's Anatomy at 3.1/8.82m and Scandal with 2.8/8m. CBS' TBBT went up to a 6.1/18.85m beating Idol's 4.1/13.15m on Fox.

As for NBC, Community premiered with 1.8/3.98m, Parks and Recreation hits high with 2.0/3.83m. At 10pm, after premiering to a record-low (of the big four) 0.9 in 18-49 demo, it went down even further to 0.7/2.18m. Expect a cancellation notice this week.

It sort of makes The Mob Doctor look better, but not really. Smash, on Tuesday nights, is also on thin ice and I think The Voice won't save them. 1.2 is truly awful for a premiere and it deserved to get that low after a truly awful first season.

Oh, forgot to mention, Elementary received a 2.3/11.02m. So much for that post-Superbowl "push". CBS really bought it upon themselves for this one really. Won't be surprised to see this one ending after May.

Elementary's Superbowl boost was... one tenth, up to a 2.3 from last weeks 2.2. Still well beaten by Scandal's 2.8. Better news for CBS is that Person of Interest still topped Grey's at 9pm (just!) and The Big Bang Theory's jump there was pretty unexpected. Didn't expect it to break a 6 against Idol.

As for FOX, Idol has taken a bit of a tumble over the past week or so. The year on year declines are creeping back towards 30% and the current trend could have some April results shows below a 3.0.

I wonder if ABC are testing out Shark Tank in that 8pm hour with a view to a permanent move? A 1.3 for a repeat isn't bad - better than a lot of original scripted has done for them there since Ugly Betty was at its peak.

    Some half hours:

TBBT (6.1) vs Idol (3.8) - 61% margin of victory
    Idol (4.4) vs TAAHM (4.1)

Glee took its 4.4 lead-in down to a 2.5 for its first half hour then fell to a 2.0 from 9.30pm. Give up now!

CBS shouldve put Person of interest in rthe post Super bowl slot. Elementary did bad yesterday even with ll the exposure it got. POI wouldve got a boost and that better lead-in wouldve boosted Elementary anyway.

I think Scandal and Person of Interest really grew their audiences and are finding their fanbases. Now that you mention it, Shark Tank/Grey's/Scandal lineup sounds quite alright. I still think Scandal will remain at 10pm slot because I read a comment on the site that if Scandal was pushed to 9pm, the amount of violence and sex would need to be toned down. It almost looks like a TNT drama, at some point. I agree with you that Glee should really give up. I watched one episode the other week, after not seeing it for so long. It just doesn't have it anymore.

Any idea how Dreams Of A Life ( C4, 10pm) did last night? One of the most shocking and saddest documentaries I've seen. C4 gets alot of slating on this thread but I think last night proved that it can still show some brilliant TV. There Richard III doc was also brilliant.

Hi everyone- new to this forum and hoping to make friends and given the lively discussion here (might make some enemies as well).
Anyway, WOW- 18.9 MILLION VIEWERS FOR THE TBBT, the show really deserves it as its one of the best comedies.
Also, just a query- just asking to see if anyone knows the consolidated ratings for mr selfridge (the 4th episode on 27th january) - just found out it has been recomissioned. Its very entertaining (fluffy but not brilliant) and the ratings of around 6 million are decent enough for a sunday night period drama.

Anyone have any demographic information on The Big Bang Theory? I am after what kind of % of young males watch the programme.

Also, if anyone knows any other programme that is a hit with the teenage male market that would be fantastic!

    From UK TV Ratings;

    Perfection - 1.20m
    Pointless - 3.67m

    Tipping Point - 2.05m
    The Chase - 3.25m

    Countdown - 358k
    Face the Clock - 299k
Deal or No Deal - 930k

    (all without +1)

Pointless ahead of The Chase. Perfection looking ok, whilst Tipping Point continues to do very well. C4 daytime looking dreadful; with Countdown low; Face the Clock rising slightly on yesterday, but still very low; whilst DOND is once again below 1m (I think a new low for weekday daytime).

Channel4Sales is your best bet. I found a random episode from Tuesday 5th on E4 with a total audience of 950,000. 22% of the audience were 208,000 men 16-34, a 2.8 TVR (i.e: 2.8% of men 16-34 in the UK watched).
