They probably just used the moodiest shots for the trailer. I thought the TARDIS would be kept Deep Breath levels of dim in Series 8 to emphasise the new red rotor. But it was mostly lit up as usual.

Is this a wind-up? Only a very few thousand people were active fans during that period. Of them, a good proportion would have much preferred to have had an RTD-style series on TV.

When you say "Russell T Davies basically ruined Doctor Who for everyone", what you really mean is that he "ruined" it for a tiny group of people.

    Whoosh! ^_^

Oh, was it a joke? Poe's Law applies to much of the irony on this forum.

Those roundels are part of Doctor Who history - they should be preserved!
While we are at it....I wish they would get that central console to go up and down again - like it has for the past 50 or so years!!
I'm not impressed by that spinning roundabout from 'In The Night Garden'!!

The trailer has a shot which appears to show the centre of the column now has a thin red pole that goes up and down.

It has always been a part of this set - you just rarely see it properly.

Why, it's... smaller on the inside!

Please return the Doctor Who set back to exactly as it was when I first started watching the show as that was the only time I, and therefore everyone else in the world, liked it.

But also make it shoot lasers and flamethrowers at bad guys.

    Thank you .

Well Lego Dimensions can help with that. You can change the interior to any console room in the shows history, so you can select any TARDIS that you like!!
Also, the little model TARDIS can be re-built into two new modes. "Laser pulse"...it shoots lasers and " Energy burst"... flames roar out of its arse.
    Designed with you in mind?
