Is it really ok to laugh at dwarfs or do you think that because some use the condition to be on the television and not usually in a serious role that it's something to be expected?
I've heard its considered an insult to call them the wrong term. Calling a dwarf a midget and vice versa is similar to suggesting his mother sucks the cocks of paying men!

Anyway, enough of this talk of dwarfs. What are your views on dwarves?
Dwarfs vs. dwarves
Dwarfs is the standard plural of the noun dwarf. This has been so for centuries. Dwarves is a variant popularized (though not invented) by English author J.R.R. Tolkien in his fantasy fiction works, including The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The Tolkien spelling is appropriate when referring to little people in fantasy worlds. Dwarfs is better everywhere else.
The difference is a midget is someone who is small but in proportion where as us dwarfs are small with legs and arms that aren't in proportion to the rest of our body. I guess for an easier life being a midget would be better.

Loaves, halves, calves, thieves, leaves, wolves all disagree...
They were all probably -fs at some point, but "ːfz" is a very un-English vocal movement, whereas "ːvz" is quite natural.

Still, I bet there are times when that can come in useful... okay, maybe not clothes shopping but other situations

children are little but no one bursts out laughing when they see one
Without kneeling.
Yes, I read about that here
Exactly...
..except the ones with all the hair and chainmail and axes. Noone laughs at them....twice...
and NOBODY tosses one of them!
I seem to remember they're "dwarfs" if they're from Middle Earth.

Cool. So is that true about the midget thing...? And is there any advantage to being a dwarf over a midget?
Don't make the obvious tossing joke, Don't make the obvious tossing joke, Don't make the obvious tossing joke...
