Nokia 7200 blocked?

Pretty old phone but managed to get one for my mum through a friend and it doesn't seem to accept or make calls, I'm guessing it's blocked or locked or something...

Any ideas on how to resolve this without spending money on a phone that was meant to be free (and I really don't think anything above a tenner on unlocking it is worth it tbh)

    Have you tried unlocking it using 1st thread in this forum? Just a thought. :)

    It would help if you told us what happens when you try so use it. What it says on the screen, for example?
    As without this information anything we say would be guesswork.
