She's a mix of the two characters but she's starting to get a bit grating due to acting like a child all the time. I wouldn't have taken her in this direction. She worked better as an Angie/Peggy mixture. I suppose the writers had to flesh her out in another way so she wasn't just a clone of those characters but turning her into a big kid isn't the best way in my opinion. Not when Tina is already part of the Carters.
So far I'm a fan of Linda Carter, although Mondays episode she was starting to grate on my nerves a bit. If the producers are trying to turn her into an adult child (like Tina) then imo it'll be a huge mistake, as any other future serious storylines she may be involved in, won't be taken seriously by anyone if she's reduced to playing a comic character!
I think Linda is her own person. Yes, she can be silly at times, but she can switch back into serious mode at the drop of a hat. Same with Mick and Nancy, they can lighten up and have fun but have a more serious, intense side.

I do really like Linda but I agree with your assessment that they are gradually turning her into a very childlike character. As you said, we don't need another Tina. At least Linda has a more legitimate reason for acting that way (having children when she was just a child herself, never really having the chance to mature and live an independent life) but I feel like it's doing Kellie Bright a disservice to characterise her completely in this way; I want to see her develop into a strong matriarch eventually, not the eternal woman-child that EE seem to favour so much for a great deal of their female characters.
I almost wonder if they're dumbing her down/making her more vulnerable for the purposes of this Dean infatuation storyline?

They very well could be which would mean it's a temporary thing but it is damaging Linda a bit. Maybe Dean's actions will cause her to reevaluate her life and grow up. I like Linda best when she's in the matriatchal role and helping people like when she offered Honey a shoulder to cry on.

The whole family has a ridiculously, over the top dynamic. I have never come across a family ever where 6 people all bump into each other moving round a tiny kitchen as they all eat breakfast together, where everything they do is a huge family celebration etc etc

I've never come across a city community ever where everybody lives and works within a tiny radius, they all know each other and socialise very little outside of 2 or 3 streets, they all drink in the same pub and despite all being skint, constantly bump into each other having breakfast in the cafe.
My point being you can take what you said about the Carters and apply it to the show as a whole. But those things don't stop me enjoying EastEnders so nor do they stop me enjoying the Carters. Yes they are unlike any family I have known in real life, but I don't find that ridiculous, I find it interesting and engaging. I don't want to watch something I could see in my own house.
I'm majority late to the party but Linda in the past few weeks has totally won me round. She's probably my current favourite character and certainly my top Carter however she doesn't remind me of Peggy or Angie. She's something new and I like that.
