BBC v Itv World Cup Ratings War - average ratings share after Day 13:

    BBC - 34pct
    Itv - 29pct
    * excludes BBC3/Itv4

BBC maintain their 5point lead, heading into the final day of the group phase. At present, this is set to be the BBC's best rating group phase of a World cup since 1998. It is Itv's worst rating group phase since 2002. In World Cup 2010, Itv actually beat BBC during the group phase by 0.5million. The BBC has turned this around dramatically for this world cup and are beating Itv for this group phase by a significant 0.8million [5.1m vs. 4.3m], which confirms that the BBC chose the better matches and have a far better weekly reach to maximise their performance.

Or how about "since the last World Cup, England have lost 66.6% of the competitive games they have played shown on BBC1, and just 4.4% of the competitive games they have played shown on ITV."

Or how about "since 2002, the games in which England have been eliminated from every tournament in which they have played have been shown exclusively on BBC1"

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Or how about ITV stop twisting and distorting figures to suit? When are you going to reveal your name because inane waffle is simply embarrassing both yourself and ITV even more. I suggest you either stop posting or stop hiding under pseudonym.

Gary just confirmed Brazil v Chile on BBC1 on Saturday teatime

Does that mean ITV will have Colombia v Uruguay or can either have both matches on the same day.

Thinking might not want Wimbledon on Monday (potentially Murray) to clash with a game

No surprise, it's the stand out game and had to be the first pick.

I reckon ITV will go with Colombia v Uruguay with the second pick. The Suarez angle seals it but mainly it's a really good game.

I wonder if Brazil go out the Studio complex will be under attack. They might not be anything to present from if it gets that ugly.

2nd choice is interesting because France/Argentina/Germany are the 'ratings' winners but then for a purist Col/Uru looks really promising but I don't reckon it's a "2nd" pick game in terms of ratings

Assuming ITV have the late game on Saturday, they would bear the brunt of it and the BBC boys would be long gone.

So it's win win for the viewers:D

France and Argentina are both weekday 5pm games which surely kills the benefit of having those two big teams on.

I think the BBC would be very happy for ITV to take the Germany game 2nd pick because it's on Monday and BBC may well want to leave the evening clear for Murray.

I think the Suarez angle should bring the ratings to the Uruguay game anyway.

Oh dear. You've officially lost the plot. Ariusuk's post was clearly light hearted. I don't see why arius has to reveal his name to anyone, least of all you, whose constant tirade against him is bordering on deranged. You're the only one embarrassing yourself and you're the only one waffling inanely.

ITV presenting from the beach tonight, unusual for a late game. Maybe they are getting the glass fixed taking advantage of the rest day tommorow.

As I've said before if you really do hate arius (as you really seem to and seem obsessed with making him reveal his name for some really bizarre reason) then put him on ignore.
Go to 'User Control Panel' click the 'Ignore/Buddy lists' button and put him on ignore. That way you can avoid his posts and we can all avoid you throwing your toys out the pram whatever he posts.

Slight flaw in the ITV poll about whether Suarez's punishment is fair or unfair, because it's not specified whether people are voting unfair because it's too harsh or unfair because it's too lenient.

I had a quick mooch about and it's do with multi camera setups and instant replays apparently. :p

Ah, so it's just a fancy name for replay operator then.

ITV have had 79 goals in 23 matches compared with the BBC's 50 goals in 21 matches, which suggests that ITV have had the most entertaining matches overall (even if some were one-sided).

Chiles suggesting that the BBC and ITV that he and Lineker will wrestle on the beach to decide who shows which knockout match :D

Quite refreshing for ITV to acknowledge their competitors as openly as that.

Radio 5 have gone for Russia/Algeria

TS are on Belguim so maybe we're in the minority with match choices!

Talksport have both games, although i think its only available on their website. Why has 5 live sports extra not got the Belgium game?

I meant as main games but you are correct

I'm not sure on Sports Extra TBH. The early games clash with Wimbledon but these are OK. Probably saving money somehow

ITV's red card graphic looks a bit weird - just kind of hanging off the end of the Belgian flag (doesn't help that it's the same colour). I hadn't noticed them using any kind of red card graphic before - is this their first game with one? Or am I just not very observant?

So much for the previous claim that they don't do it because the viewer doesn't want to know the score as they want to wait until the highlights.

This red card issue which both BBC and ITV have followed BT's lead in showing it against the teams name, I wonder if Sky will follow something which BT have started?
