The weather missed us thank goodness. Thoughts are with the casualties. Hoping we are all unscathed.

THE MOLE by WILL DEARBORN

...and he was looking forward to flying again.

Arthur and Barnaby walked out of the stables and were walking round to the apple tree when they met Bodoing and Zany heading the same way.

Hermy popped up from the lake as he passed by, "ello Artzur and Barnubby."

"Hi Hermy," he chuckled at the big hippo.

Withers was walking down to join them as he emerged from his Magical Shed, he had been up all night tinkering away with his spellbooks and potions.

Ginny could see from her lofty position slightly round behind the Palace the others joining up.

"Come on everyone the others are all down by the lawn - it's time to go...(...to be continued)

...and get everything and everyone together."

"Morning Hermy," said Boo as he passed.

"Ello ortsey!" she smiled as she bobbed under the water.

So they all gathered down by the Apple Tree where they had always come to talk things through, there was Queen Ginny the giraffe, and Arthur the Mole, Boo the Flying Horse, Barnaby Badger, Withers the old Wizard, Zany the ex-King, Bodoing - a gnome, Dai the blue dragon, Oink! the small pig who(was getting bigger by the day), and Toot the sheepdog(his friend).
Hermione & Hugo the hippos listened from the lake with Dabblehop Duck within earshot.

What a motley crew they all were.

Bodoing spoke first surprisingly, "just to be safe the Palace elves Halon & Valor are guarding the gates."

"Thank you Bodoing - on the question of you going today?"

"No!" said Bodoing and his horrible blue face turned bright green as he quailed, "not back there!"

"Okay you stay here, don't panic!" said Ginny

"Ai vill luke afta zhu Biding!" trilled Hermione.

Bodoing rolled his eyes upwards hardly reassured...

Ginny spoke next, "on the question of supplies we have some ready, and the Magical Map and the directions of where you are going - well Withers knows that - so it will be Boo, Arthur, Barnaby, Zany, Withers and Dai."

"Brilliant I will lead the way and travel by dragon into the bargain," said Withers smiling at Dai...(...to be continued)

Robert Webb's open letter in the New Statesman tomorrow in reply to Russell Brand's tosh about not voting may be the most uplifting and masterful piece of writing I've read in a long time - true intelligence. :)

One of the two is an inspiration...and it isn't Brand.
