Easter Hero - dual Cheltenham Gold Cup winner 1929 & 1930.

Finished second under 12st 7lb in a field of 66 for the 1929 Grand National despite spreading a plate several fences out and having to race with it dangling from the hoof.

Johnson, David - prominent owner with about 25 horses in training (down from 100 four years ago) mainly with David Pipe.

Best horses probably Cyfor Malta and Well Chief. Also owned 2008 Grand National winner Comply Or Die.

Oliver Carter.....trained his own horses at or near Ottery St. Mary in Devon and as far as I recall, included "otter" in all his horses names. Great supporter of both point to point and NH racing and rewarded when he got a classy horse called Otter Way. I seem to remember after he retired from training he placed at least one of his horses with Paul Nicholls.
Venn Ottery - another of Carter's charges and the Hunt Ball of his time.

The horse improved from 64 in July 2003 to a mark of 149 in March 2004 (up 85lb in 8 months).

Ta for the memory prod, that's the one that Paul Nicholls trained and I think he and Barber fell out over.

    Nothing to add to that.
