Wow so many really nasty comments

I'm quite amazed by the amount of venom and really nasty comments posted on the BB forum about housemates. Whilst I understand people disliking some of the housemates behaviours or actions it appears that the so called behaviours they dislike especially the name calling and nasty bitching is a reflection of themselves as they then go on to post really spiteful nasty remarks themselves. It also amuses me that so many viewers appear to have lost the concept of its a game show. Contestants should have game plans, play up to the camera and manipulate as much as they can after all they are in a fake house, which intentionally puts in false situations and games in play to provoke contestants. The entire house is designed to encourage bitching, backstabbing and falseness to achieve a hundred grand prize and push people to see how far they would go to get it. Not one housemate entered the competition not wanting to gain as much public exposure as possible to try and get a media career and the prize money.
It's a game show can't understand why bloggers are lowering themselves to become trolls not only about housemates but start ripping shreds out of other posters who write something they might not agree with.
Expressing a viewpoint and your opinion is one thing but slagging people off and writing venomous comments really shows how many unstable and irrational people use blogging sites, quite worrying really.

As long it isn't about a persons looks, their personalities and actions should be named and shamed for sure.

Yep. However, I would suggest you look for the posts that are longer than ten words, broken into reasonable paragraphs and free of childish name-calling. It can be hard to find them on board strung with the repetition of the vocal few - but they are there. Whichever side of whatever fence they're on, they're usually worth a read.

Must say, I agree. It's the worst year I have spent on this forum. As a result, I'm not getting involved as much here and drifting to other friendlier spots :)
What really gets me is that there's no range or scale in adjectives/ descriptions used. One could be excused for presuming when viewing certain posts out of context, that we are on a board discussing World's Most Dangerous and Sick Minds!

Wow, really surprised at that. I thought this year was much better than last year or the year before which I put down to some of the old dominant long term members not posting this year thus making it a better place for all of us.

I've seen a lot worse than I have read this year. I absolutely dislike it when the 'hate' word is used all the time ie........you don't like a particular housemate so you must hate them.

You can dislike someone without hating them and indeed you can like someone without them being your firm favourite.

The pettiness at times can be a tad tiring but I ignore most of it to be honest with you.

    :)

Now THAT is an OP I can support wholeheartedly. All great points I fully agree with. Some of the stuff I have seen has been genuinely vitriolic and downright nasty.

It should be possible to name and shame without descending into nastiness in the shaming.

Why are looks an exception and personality not, btw? It's sometimes said the reason is that looks are largely something outside the persons control, but so is personality.

I've missed some of the long term members. :( Every year a good deal of the new sign-ons are vociferous in targetting one housemate and completely disregard the positives in everyone and don't join in the light-hearted threads at all. The same is true this year, unfortunately.

I agree that every year you have had dominant posters who immediately got nasty when another poster challenged their view point or disagreed. But this year the intensity of comments is far nastier and bitter. Reading through the blogs about every housemate it's a total character assignation completely out of context. None of the contestants have really done anything really awful. Helen took things too far for which she received a formal warning. But again having a housemate with a free pass was always engineered to create friction. Especially as it gave her free reign to confront and argue without any repercussion on nominations or so she thought. The Power Housemate was contrived to create paranoia and friction especially as this is the first year that every week they have played back diary room discussions, nominations and excerpts of people's conversations back to housemates designed to create controversy. It's astounding that so many bloggers are taking every comment then anylising it and then appear to be having a melt down on the forum resulting in scathing attacks. It would be interesting to break down the posters into age groups to see how this reflects on the type of comments being used. Guess I'm just interested in how the cyber world and anonymity of blog pages brings out a real deep anger and irrational thought process.

This place always goes mental during CBB or BB, granted not as mental as it did back in the Channel 4 days but it does still go mental none the less especially on eviction nights

Half of those nasty threads could be avoided if people had current things to talk about, when BB can be bothered spoon feeding us that current information that is

There's barely anything to work with so people have to make their own threads, not that I'm excusing the nasty personal comments about people in the house we all barely know.

Far from it, I think some would LOVE to know the ins and outs of these people without having to guess via the spoon fed information we are getting

The internet was invented for 3 things.

    1. Porn
    2. Pictures of cats
    3. To be a faceless dick to people.

    It is what it is.

i've seen nothing to compare to the sheer poisonous and hateful stuff posted at Linda Nolan.

i know a few regulars stopped posting after that. This BB is tame in comparison.

I agree with some others in this thread that the comments have not been nearly as nasty as some years. Although, this time the real venom seems to have started a lot earlier. Usually as BB winds down to the final few weeks it really can get wicked. So if you think it's bad now......

Some of the Helen stuff I have seen is way worse than the Linda Nolan posts I'd say. Some truly horrifically bad things are said regularly. There are even people excusing it because she 'deserves' it and/ or 'asks' for it..

This forum, how it works and how different people post is way more interesting at times than anything that goes on in the BB house.

Dare I be so bold as to add Jim alongside Linda in that particular CBB.

It wasn't pleasant at all, none of it.

If the bitching, unpleasantness and name-calling is bad in the house, it tends to be reflected in the forum, imo.
