Breakfast might look low, but with a 40% share I dread to think about the other channels. Not much to add apart from The Commonwealth Games are boosting BBC1's daytime ratings.

Wow, 40% share for a rating of 772k! Has everybody just decided to give up on TV? Looks like the CG are driving more viewers away than bringing them in. Would have thought that other channels would increase due to people who weren't interested in the CG, instead, those who are not watching seem to have given up on TV altogether.

I knew the Red Arrows doc would do well. BBC2 seems to be the only channel putting out some good stuff over this sporting Summer.

Well lets face it, ITV's attempt with weekend is awful with only 5% shares. They might as well put out some old comedies there like Ch4 do.

Well, I'm just working my way through stuff recoreded for 'later'. At this rate, I'll be up to date with Scandal ready for the new series starting this week!

Perhaps it's part of a longer term trend this Spring/Summer? We know that ratings generally have been sliding for a few months now.

The Commonwealth Games are getting decent shares, they're just not bringing in extra viewers the way The Olympics did. Also with this great weather lots of people are enjoying it and ditching TV.

Did the kid shows that ITV used to have at weekends in that slot get similar ratings to Weekend I wonder?

I don't agree. 15-19% averages, less for highlights, versus the BBC One average of about 21%.

They aren't doing that well at all, really.

    "@overnightstv: C4 Drama #TheMill attracted 1.6m/8.1% at 9pm, with further 193.8k/0.9% watching on C4+1 http://t.co/Gu75jKfL7Z"

So The Mill down slightly but Dragon's Den was pretty much the same as last week.

This confirms what I've been thinking about The Commonwealth Games. Boosting daytime, not so much primetime on BBC1.

    http://screenwatch.tumblr.com/
The second of this year’s big sporting events is now underway, with the Commonwealth Games, hosted in Glasgow.* The event is receiving wall-to-wall coverage on BBC1 and BBC3, which has had its transmission hours extended, launching at 9am instead of 7pm every day.* And how have the channels fared so far?

Looking at BBC1, the four days of competition so far (from the 24th to the 27th July) with the same period two weeks ago(10th-13th July), the effect is at least partly positive.* In the earlier period, the BBC1 daytime Share (0600-1900) was 20.49%, whereas the more recent period has seen a rise to 23.13%.* Similarly, the audience has averaged almost 200,000 more – up from 1.45m to 1.62m. However, peaktime Share (1900-2300) has taken a tumble, down almost 6 percentage points from 24.43% to 18.40%, with an audience drop from 5.8m to 3.3m.

More positively, BBC3 has gained across the board, during the day averaging a 2.35% Share, and seeing a rise from 1.24% to 2.1% in peaktime.

Still looking for some. I haven't seen them posted anywhere.

    EDIT: Oh they have.

Commonwealth Games coverage tops Sunday, Dragons' Den attracts 2.3m

BBC One's coverage of the Commonwealth Games topped a quiet Sunday, according to overnight ratings.

    The sporting event averaged 3.50 million (17.8%) at 7.15pm, with a peak of 4.25m (22.1%) at 10pm.

On BBC Two, Dragons' Den attracted 2.35m (11.8%) at 8pm, followed by Red Arrows: Inside the Bubble with 2.35m (11.2%) at 9pm.

    ITV's Catchphrase entertained 2.54m (14.0%) at 7.15pm (212,000/1.2% on +1), while Foyle's War brought in 2.32m (11.3%) at 8pm (199k/1.1%).

    On Channel 4, The Mill was seen by 1.62m (8.1%) at 8pm (194k/0.9%). Child Genius appealed to 1.29m (6.2%) at 9pm (261k/1.6%).

    Channel 5's Big Brother continued with 1.07m (5.1%) at 9pm (182k/1.1%).

On BBC Three, Family Guy topped the multichannels with 996k (5.3%) at 10pm and 1.19m (7.3%) at 10.30pm.

    ITV2's TOWIE attracted 913k (5.3%) at 10pm (140k/1.4%).

Yes. That got 1.61m. One of BBC2's best Friday ppm ratings in months.

Yes, apparently, they got along pretty well during Wilde's second spell, although Wilde was still prone to being a little difficult at times, such as when Radio Times sent Andrew Duncan to interview the cast, and Wilde sulked about having his Porridge credit in smaller print than Ronnie Barker's. :D

Yes, I've got the issue with this interview in, it's brilliant, because Wilde refused to be interviewed but apparently sat there with Owen and Sallis not saying anything, just to prove a point, much to Owen and Sallis' amusement. As you say, his complaint was that when they repeated Porridge they just put "Starring Ronnie Barker" in bold at the top and Wilde with everyone else in the cast last. And in the piece Sallis was asked what comedy shows he liked and he said "I used to like Porridge but I got so upset by Brian's billing I can't watch it anymore".

I've also got the issue where Michael Aldridge joins the cast and he talks about how important it was to get used to the routine to keep a happy ship, always noting where Owen and Sallis liked to sit in the trailer and so on, presumably having heard the various stories about Wilde's antics.

Not sure if we can read to much into a rating for a programme that finished at eight o'clock on a Sunday morning, what other options were there? Kids' shows, signed repeats or a blank screen, or more likely staying in bed. I wondered if that was one of Marr's highest ratings for a while but it seems to be in line with its regular audience, I suppose any regular viewers who missed it because it was on early were offset with people watching it in bed who are usually up and about by 10am. Like how Marr's show is the only new non-news, non-sport programme on BBC1 this week.

The first episode of 5USA's hit US procedural Chicago PD consolidated to 735K for its first Wednesday night screening. A further 328K tuned into the Thursday repeat.

It's the highest viewing figures recorded by a 5USA exclusive show since Without A Trace in 2008 and their most watched programme since a screening of The Expendables last June. Furthermore 5USA grew its share of viewing to 1.2% for week ending July 20.
