Some people keep predicting on here they will "go bust" everytime a retailer goes into administration toon. They are doing well not surprised they have the Post Office and Travel outlets.
This article about more new stores should keep quiet anybody thinking they are next to go under as they are actually a success but like John Lewis even though it's not cheap.

There must be a generation of people who don't use the internet for purchases who shop there. Everytime I pop in there I see that most of their customers are 60 plus.
I am amazes they are still on the high street - they are not cheap.
Also their quality, and being magazine specialists probably helps.
It is strange though the WHSmiths near me dims it's lights to save money..
I think they still do. That part of their business is the 'Travel' part and high street shops are the 'Retail' part.
I'm one of those "idiots".
Dirty floors and carpets, over-cluttered shelves and a feeling of a jumble sale would sum up most of their branches!!
Yeah, but if it ain't broke...
They're the anti-John Lewis of retail, their stores look terrible and their prices are uncompetitive, but they evidently know their market and all the clutter and overkill works for them.
I also refuse to use shops that try and sell you things at the till, in their case cheap chocolate - if I'd have wanted chocolate I'd have already picked it up prior to coming to the till. I don't want free bottled water with an Independent either.
So cheap you could buy twice as much chocolate for the same price elsewhere!!
The company WHSmith used to get their DVDs from went under the same time as Woolworths. It'd be a stupid move for them to start stocking them as their buying power wouldn't be able to compete with HMV, let alone Amazon.
I've always found them really helpful when it comes to books
Must be doing something right.
Achieved by cost cutting, someone somewhere will be paying for their success.
So you were forced to pay £8 for a cork board, if you thought it was too expensive why didn't you go somewhere cheaper. No point in complaining when you made the conscious decision to take the more expensive option.
Yes they are doing well despite the doom and gloom. Anytime I've been in a store it's always busy. I myself only use it for magazines and they have a good quality paper for CV applications too.
I know they moved into other old Woolworths stores but not many I'm surprised they have not shuffled up the high street into some of the other prime units now they are doing so well.
