So today I'm talking about films that are so similar to each other they may as well be the same??

So an obvious example would be:

Friends with benefits and No Strings Attached.

Other examples I can think of are:

Coyote Ugly and Burlesque

The Wild and Madagascar

Pretty In Pink and Sixteen Candles

Keith and A Walk To Remember

Obviously this is peoples own interpretations so lets not start any arguements here :) Your examplese?

Found The 2011 one really boring when I watched it though many others seem to like it.

Volcano and Dantes Peak in the same year! Mind you not as bad as Operation Thunderbolt/Raid on Entebbe/Victory at Entebbe in the space of 15 months.

Point Break was pretty much remade as The Fast and The Furious

I wouldn't say so for the first two.
The first ones both had a magician as part of the plot but they were very different.
EdTV was about a guy who chose to live his life via TV.
The Truman show was different because he didn't know it was all a setup.

I find it odd when films with a similar plot comeout within months of each other.

Was it just co-incidence or is it insider knowledge that one studio is working on a big earth destroying blockbuster so the other studio jumps on the bandwagon and does their own?

Warrior is The Fighter with kicking. Both great films though.

I came to suggest this also, although based purely on what I have heard as I've not seen The Fighter yet. Love Warrior though.

Some Bond films seem very similar to earlier ones, e.g. ...

    A View to a Kill - Goldfinger

The Spy Who Loved Me - You Only Live Twice

The late 80's had a whole load of body swap type films which all seemed to be released at the same time.

"Big" with Tom Hanks and the slightly lesser known "Vice Versa" with Judge Reinhold spring immediately to mind. Although I'm no fan of Tom Hanks, Big is an excellent film, but I prefer Vice Versa.

It's almost as if they had the original script open in Microsoft Word and replaced Vegas with Bangkok, Doug with Teddy and baby with monkey
