This is all very strange. And there are all kinds of awful rumours and claims on the internet. I hope to goodness it isn't anything serious.

I've also seen rumours about US forces and tanks (thousands of them, apparently) amassing on the Russian border. I very much hope that isn't true either.

Still think the most plausible is plastic surgery/procedure gone wrong.
Its clear for a number of years he's been having work done if something really has messed up he cant appear looking like pete Burns.

It must be some nasty cold - ten days in bed.

Still the best cure for that surely is chicken soup - or should that say coup.

President Putin is quite prolific on Twitter, but nothing since 6th March.

There's supposed to be a big celebration in Red Square, on Wednesday, I think, and there are trucks there now setting it all up; so we'll have to wait and see if he turns up for that.

But who replaces him? Perhaps someone worse.

The whole Russian government is spun around him, if he goes it will fall into chaos.

If there is a rumour of US Forces near the Border which Country would take them & why would the US be on the Border with Russia that does not make any sense for them to be there (if true)

I would rather have hope for a better future than keep the status quo when it is so poor. You may be right that a new leader could be worse but he also could be better, more willing to compromise.

The time putin should have pulled this back and gone down the diplomatic route was after the Airplane Disaster, The Footage was 100% clear what happen yet he denied it
just like the Denials of the troops in Green now he admits, (like the world didn't know already).

He based the entire thing on EU/America just leaving him alone and ignoring,
When he made threats on Gas/Oil a lot of the countries sourced other supplies then
the prices of both dropped so not only Sanctions but revenue totally plummeting.

Not sure on the context but there were some shocking numbers posted by Ian King on Sky Friday night on the state of the economy.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11469243/Russia-slashes-interest-rates-as-economy-faces-crisis.html

High inflation and the collapse in GDP utterly toxic for any country but when that's linked with Sanctions,

His mates must be losing a fortune and it was completely pointless, After he secured Crimea He should have then played the diplomat this non stop action trying to secure a land route down there has been a complete disaster.

Completely agree with you, he has recently gone too far on certain issues imo. Now his people will be suffering the financial cost of his ego for years to come.

Yup, Russia's down to it's last $330bn in reserves and just reduced it's interest rates as the ruble's been recovering. Any idea how much our EU colleagues in the east & elsewhere have lost by being unable to trade with Russia?

Interesting as http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/currencies/europe-africa-middle-east/ shows USD-RUB to be about the same it has been for the last couple of weeks, so i am not noticing a great recent improvement. Also oil prices are likely to drop AGAIN so Russia should be very worried http://finance.yahoo.com/news/russias-economic-misery-deepens-125700490.html;_ylt=AwrBJR_iGwZVq1QAaReTmYlQ.

Or rather when you look at it like this.
the trouble for Putin he's had what about 6 chances since the airline disaster to scale this crisis back and each time something new happened that just kept pushing more sanctions.

    Another report.

This vanishing act by Putin if something more serious has occurred you can see just on the economic front just how much this has cost the country so How much has it cost individuals ;)

Look at it like this instead-

    http://www.tradingeconomics.com/poland/foreign-exchange-reserves

    or worse, this-

Again you're assuming Putin was responsible for any crisis. So Ukraine had a coup, Crimea seperated, the east objected to the coup leaders & so Kiev sent their army in along with a rag-tag oligarch army to get revenge. And we imposed sanctions on Poland and Germany so they lost trade with Russia. And we... well, the US wants even more sanctions. But then they have very little trade with Russia, so don't really care about the consequences.

Which so far have included their BRICS bank, a possible alternative to SWIFT, new deals with China, India, Latin America etc etc. But of course if we really wanted to punish Russia, we could sanction their oil & gas exports. That would teach those pesky Reds!

Well, if Russia implodes in a coup, quiet or otherwise, it'll cost... everyone. If you think Ukrainian nationalists were bad, wait and see what would happen if there was a whiff of any Western-backed coup in Russia..

This link says that, on Thursday 12th March:

Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian on Thursday had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that reportedly focused on relations between the two countries as well as integration as part of the Moscow-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

A statement by the press office of the Armenian president said in the context of bilateral cooperation the two leaders, in particular, discussed issues related to the spheres of “peaceful nuclear energy, oil and natural gas.” It did not elaborate.

During the telephone conversation Sarkisian and Putin also reportedly agreed on the schedule of their upcoming meetings “within the framework of jointly participating in the events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.”

The main events commemorating the centennial of the start of the massacres of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey that are widely acknowledged as the first genocide of the 20th century are due to be held in Yerevan on April 24...

Based on Russian history it probably means he's being stuffed ready for going on show in Red Square.

You do realise that Russia hasn't been a communist country for over 20 years? Although obviously lots of people don't seem to understand that, become one keeps seeing these sorts of references.

Instead, Russia has become a 'faux' democratic country verging on dictatorship - with Putin being the chief propagandist.
