How did that happen !!! In a country exploding with their own tv presenters and wannabee tv presenters, how on earth did Vernon Kay manage to get this gig !! Seems a bizarre choice, but then again Cat Deeley does "So you Think you can dance" so anything is possible.

What's with the Americans taking on so many British presenters? I'd have thought they'd have wanted to use their own talent

Vernon Kay is a really random choice. He's quite annoying actually.

If he takes Tess with him, that'll be marvellous.

    Good riddance.

Perhaps he'll take his wife with him and British viewers won't have to be annoyed by either of them any more. A bit baffled by this though, as Ant and Dec tried to crack the US, but were told US audiences wouldn't understand them as their accents were so thick. How they'll understand Vernon I don't know as his accent's barely intelligable to us Brits!

No. But it is British format from BBC Worldwide. The Executive Producers, Co-Executive Producer and Director are all British.

Way back in 2005 he presented a show for NBC based on a British format and he was already working with ABC on a quiz show - not sure if it's going to air.

It's the US version of Strictly Ice Dancing. A spin-off from Dancing with the Stars.

Apparently the exec producer from Big Brother, Phil Edgar Jones and Dermot O'Leary's girlfriend are producing it.

He is from Bolton not Russia.

I do think it strange he got the job though.

I have the cases, but I think we will need bigger ones, we won't get them lanky clown trousers in.

I certainly would do that. Can't say I'm too sorry. I can't stand him.

Let's hope he's a great success and gets more shows over there. They are very welcome to Vernon.

I'd be sorry to see Tess go though.

How very random, but thank you USA, please make the programme a great success, you can then keep him and we'll throw his wife in as a bonus.

They probably think because Cat Deeley was a 'success' they'll try it again, and yes it's clearly a cohoots deal.

Not entirely related but I wonder if it will get shown in the UK.

Probably ITV 2 will carry it, so if he is off to the US who will present Beat The Star, cue ITV's golden child Schofeild

It won't be on ITV2. Watch will probably pick it up.

It's a BBC Worldwide show, spin-off from Strictly.

I thought it was a Dancing on Ice spin-off.
