People forget now how all-pervading Timbaland was in the latter half of the decade, the best example of his production IMO is 'Say It Right' by Nelly Furtado, and I think that will be regarded as a classic when people hear it in decades to come.

yeah definitely. but to be fair in the first half of the decade he had did a lot that many would consider classics (or urban classics) such as dirt off your shoulder by jay z and the aaliyah singles. promiscuous and maneater from nelly furtado's album are classics too i think.
Beyonce- Crazy In Love
Outkast- Ms Jackson and Hey Ya
50 Cent- In Da Club

Basement Jaxx- Where's Your Head At?
Corinne Bailey Rae- Girl Put Your Record On
Amy Winehouse - Rehab
Mark Ronson/Winehouse - Valerie (I know it's a cover, but it will be the version which will be the classic)
Britney - Toxic
Christina - Beautiful (and Dirrty?)
Avril - Girlfriend (love or loathe it, it was HUGE)
Rihanna - Umbrella
Beyoncé - Single Ladies
Lady Gaga - Poker Face/Bad Romance
Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl
MIA - Paper Planes?
Paramore - Misery Business?
Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag

Kylie - Can't Get You...
Green Day - American Idiot
Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles (THAT White Chicks scene...)
Eminem - Lose Yourself
Justin - SexyBack
Kelis - Milkshake
As a 20 year old, I know that when any of these songs come on, me, my friends and probably about 90% of that age group (or the ones I know at least) all look at one another and say "classic".
Hero - Enrique Iglesias
Love Don't Cost a Thing/I'm Real (Remix) - Jennifer Lopez
Hot In Herre/Ride With Me - Nelly
Fallen - Alicia Keys
Always on Time - Ja Rule ft. Ashanti
1 2 Step - Ciara
In Da Club - 50 Cent
Survivor - Destiny's Child
I'm Like A Bird/Promiscuous Girl - Nelly Furtado
Surprised that no one has mentioned Elbow-One Day Like This, used in 90% of all inspirational footage on the telly.
Oh Gog yeah, I would like to think that most people are thoroughly sick of it now though. I mean, it's really been hammered into the ground. It really needs to be put away in the back of the cupboard for a few years to give us a break from it and then it'll be remembered more fondly as a classic when it emerges again.
I'm not sure if TV writers etc. are just lazy as hell or if there is actually a concerted effort to manufacture 'classic' status for the song.

Agree with all these
I'd add for Ruby by the Kasier Chefs and I think Somebody Told Me will be more rememberable than Mr Brightside IMO
Though I think certain club songs will be remembered in the coming years
- Lolas Theme
- Call On Me
- Make Luv
- The Weekend
- Hung Up
Idk they just seem to have that X factor like Rhythm is a dancer for instance
I always assumed it was a song from the 90s or 80s for some reason, when did it come out?
Probably because it's been used so much It was released in June 2008, but only actually got as high as #35 back then. It wasn't until just after the Olympics in 2012 it recharted and peaked at #4.
Similarly, Jet's 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' and Paulo Nutini's 'Pencil Full of Lead' I both thought were old songs from decades ago that had been re-issued when I first heard them!

you may well be right, it might be seen as a classic in the future, but .....

It'll probably be remembered for the controversial video. The actual song isn't all that great IMO. I didn't like the shouty vocals on it.
Somewhere else - razor light
I believe in a thing called love - the darkness
These songs are just so 00's to me

Buck Rogers - Feeder
not heard of that one (bib)
but 'living for the weekend' was a great track!
