The Digital Spy forum started around the same time as Big Brother started and they quickly became established as a site for Big Brother discussion.

Digitalspy was around ages before Big Brother. There wasn't even a big brother section on this site when I first signed up. The site back then was about media & technology- soaps, reality TV, celebrties etc.. where nowhere to be seen. It was a much better site in those days.

I don't understand that.. if you know what kind of site it is, then surely it's not weird - it's exactly what you'd expect given it's remit and normal content!

As someone who has a long-term and substantial interest in The Media and Broadcasting (Showbiz somewhat less), most of the breaking news here is perfectly relevant and appreciated to me.

The forums do make the site, so to speak, but I always have a gander at DS's front page first - as I'm sure many others do.

What I meant was it's weird that I don't think most people visit the site to read the content. They just go on the forums.

If Ds only had a forum about showbiz & media, you'd have a point. As it has forums about all sorts of things other than showbiz & media, you dont have a point.

The showbiz news is old and rubbish. I can't imagine anyone with any real interest in showbiz breaking news would use DS news as their first port of call.

To be honest, I only use DS (and sometimes The Sun online) for showbiz..

I would say DS is one of the No.1 sites in it's field.

I mean really. The 'breaking news' banner makes me cringe whenever I see it. Oh, a channel 5 shake-up? Really, who cares.

Some good quality debate on the forums but how many actually look at the rest of the site.

My interest in DS has only ever been the forums... I don't really register the other stuff most of the time. Usually only if an article or whatever is highlighted within a thread.

And the Breaking News banner is pretty cringey i agree. It was Janice Battersby quitting Corrie the other day. Like that's world shattering news

To be fair DS doesn't exactly specialise in world news... any kind of entertainment news is usually going to be fairly underwhelming in the earth-shattering stakes. Unless you happen to be a corrie fan anyway... I understand they do exist...

I joined DS mainly for the Broadcasting forums :o But yeah I always found that part of the site interesting. The music section of the main site's not bad either.

I can't possibly comment myself. I've never actually watched it... ;)
