Absolutely stunning and blows the X Factor finalists efforts out of the water. Just shows the difference between real musicians and wannabe karaoke efforts.

Sorry.
Here's how it should be

Also, it's funny you use this because it was reviewed with Joe McElderry in mind. (http://unrealityshout.com/blogs/single-review-ellie-goulding-your-song)
I mean his Elton versions blew it out of the water with deserving standing ovations for both:

Blows all other Elton John covers out of the water,
I haven't clicked but I assume you've not included a cover of Yellow brick Road. And if you know so much you might consider the time constraints of all the contestants
if you don't feel the programme is up to your high standards ..there is a remote
You can't compare covers performed in normal circumstances to those from the show because of the time constraints, the lack of creative freedom on the X Factor and the fact they the contestants are not always given suitable songs.
The X Factor is a karaoke show, but some of the acts are real musicians. The problem is that they are not allowed to show who they really are.
that is a really nice version, thanks for the link.
nothing will ever top Ewan McGreggor's version of that song for me tho
Agree, but then again, I did like the Shat's version
Thanks for the laugh.
I'm not keen on that.
I also don't think it's fair comparing a recorded version of a song to a live performance. Ellie will have spent hours in the recording studio getting her vocals spot on (not to mention the technical stuff that's done to clean up vocals). Also, the X-Factor contestants have 3 days to learn a song.
Yes, there were some dodgy performances on Saturday, but I'm sure Ellie's first, uncleaned-up vocals on that song weren't what we're hearing in the finished advert.
I prefer songs to be sung.
Maybe 1 exception fro me is Shane MacGowan on Fairytale of New York.
Ellie performs whole sets live and doesn't have a whole week to practice a cover of one song.
My point was that yes this is a recorded version but I'm not fussed about perfect vocals or anything, this is a re-working of the song packed with emotion (not the fake vocal gymnastic type of emotion you get from the likes of Mariah btw) and performed in a beautifully understated way. In my opinion its miles above everything on the X Factor. All those artists have to do is sing, Ellie writes her own stuff, plays instruments is involved in the production etc etc....
What a load of crap:eek:
Or by me, my kareoke version of Bennie and the Jets brought the house down in Seattle one time, some claim it was structural weaknesses but I'm not having that one bit.
Clearly, you didn't watch last year with this standing ovation from all four judges which no one got this year:

I did watch it last year. I didn't like Joe McEldery and when he sang I always got up to make a cup of tea to escape.:D
Oh, give the girl a medal!
Maybe like so many of today's singer/songwriters Ellie should give her songs to people who can actually sing them well.
As for playing instruments, if she's that good (which she isn't at any one particular instrument) maybe that's the most she should do in terms of performance. She has a grating voice and is totally devoid of performance skills, stage presence and star quality.
Apart from that, I like her.
His songs are very difficut to sing and OP your right only one person got it right on Saturday;.;)
So how would you know whether he sang it well or not?
You might not like him but you can't deny he did justice to the song and sang it exceptionally well. He topped the week's votes and had his 2nd standing ovation in a row.
Even the journalist that reviewed Ellie's version of Elton's song made a positive reference to Joe McElderry and it's been a year since he sang that song.
