Considering the channel should more or less be renamed "Sky Sports Football News HD", I'm surprised they aren't launching it on or before August 14th when the new PL season gets underway.

12090 V is now in HD mode (29500, 3/4). It has 2 test streams.
    1. 3856 has EPG data for Comedy Central
    2. 3812 has no EPG data

To have EPG data on the test means its quiet far advanced. :)

I would say very far advanced as the channel has been and is simulcasting Comedy Central with HD Content :-)

Don't know if we can read into it too much but the new Sky magazine on page 31 has a programme on The Travel Channel with an HD logo next to it, and on p76 it states that a programmes on the Good Food, and Food Network are in HD.

Dunno if it;s just the Sky mag mis-printing or not?

Comedy Central HD has a good ~17mbit bitrate.

Sex and the city is on at the moment, upscaled. Here is a screenshot I took... http://blah.bleh.ws/~sg/comedycentralhdsky.jpg

My HD box at about 11.30pm went into update mode for a few mins, was this for Comedy Central HD?

I cant seem to find a list of updates for the Sky HD box anywhere.

Would not hold your breath as it has often done this.

A year ago the mag carried Living programmes symbols in HD and whilst it did launch on cable we are still waiting for it on Sky even though Sky have now paid two thirds of the money to Virgin to buy their channels,

A few months ago it promoted HD programmes on Bravo (eg Spartacus) and there is still not even a Bravo HD on Virgin let alone Sky.

I hope when Sky eventually complete the takeover of VMTV, Bravo HD is a high priority.

I don't get the fuzz about Bravo HD ... is there ANYTHING on Bravo that could be shown in HD?
X Files, Star Trek Voyager, A-Team ... those are all old shows not available in HD.

What we need is LIVING HD. After that, the only channel I'd be missing in HD would be ITV 2 (as they show Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, American Idol, America's Got Talent and the Spin-Offs from X Factor / BGT + Repeats from ITV1 Shows). All those would be worth HD ...

With ITV2 HD and LIVING HD I'd be completely happy.

There are a few things that Bravo broadcasts, and that are made in HD -

    - Spartacus: Blood & Sand
    - TNA Impact
    - Leverage
    - The Unit
    - Films

Unfortunately, you can't access the test on a Sky box because of the 29500 symbol rate.

the big problem is the amount of new channels comeing on stream are all on sky HD and none unencrypted.
I can see that by the end of 2011 we have the same problem with the new 3D channels that will be comeing on stream too. By then sky will probably have 50 to 100 HD channels (also the new olympic channels comeing in 2012),
and the new 3D box be uprated by then.
To be honest i can see the bubble will burst sooner than later. this all costs huge sums of money.
Which means the non HD/ 3D channels will be kicked off sky to make way for the new ones ( like what happened when digitsal sky replaced annologue).
During the olympic year there is likely to be 6 channels + sorely for olympic events travel and news programs \eurosport is likely to have 2 HD olympic channels while the rest is shared between sky ITV and BBC

I take it Two And A Half Men is native HD on Comedy Central HD right now?

I must say, it does look good.
