  So sad, they were travelling to a dance competition at Butlins. A lorry seems to be involved again, other recent crashes have involved lorries. I wonder if the lorry drivers are less cautious these days or working too many hours and getting tired.

  I would say it is probably more rare when 5 members of the same family die in a car crash.
  
  Rip very sad and sad for the services who have to real with these fatalities.

  It's these roads trunk roads which are dangerous. Some Lorry drivers don't know the roads. They still don't know the cause.

  What a sad occurrence indeed. From the pic it does look like a stretch of road where 'accidents could happen' more so than average.

  I'd say an extremely tiny percent of truck drivers who 'don't know the roads'. Remember they are regularly travelling the length and breadth of the country clocking up thousands of miles every year, where the average motorist will only be familiar with roads in his own locality.
  
  It's been said in a few reports that Police believe the driver of the car was overtaking another vehicle.

  We had something like this recently with a youn lad who was mourned by seemingly everybody in the locality. He was 'a good lad' etc, lots of pictures of him drinking and being loutish, along with his 'pals' comments that it always happens to the good ones, and heaven has a new brightest star.
  
  Turned out he was speeding and overtaking on a known dangerous piece of road, where many have died in the past.

  Reminds me of an accident a few years ago where an entire family, including a newborn, were killed by a lorry after visiting relatives.

  I live very close to here and sadly it isn't the first time serious accidents have occurred around there. I remember some years ago they reduced the speed limit on the dual carriageway just near here after two young girls were ploughed into and killed as they walked along the path Unfortunately many still ignore the speed limit signs. The particular stretch of road this accident occurred on is full of twists and hidden dips.

  That's rather judgmental. Perhaps you should reserve comments like these until you know the facts rather than judging a dead driver based on speculation.

  With cash for crash crime there is a growing movement to fit cars with cameras like aircraft black boxes. Although we do not know who was at fault it would be handy if they were fitted to all commercial vehicles to start with.
  
  I make a rule nowadays to never overtake on a two lane A road unless it is totally safe with no other traffic in sight. Vehicles in both directions are travelling so much faster than they used to.

  In Mum's village, the council put in two road bumps after a driver lost the control of his speeding car on a curve and hit a woman and four children under 5, killing all instantly (one was her son, and the other three she was escorting to their homes).
  
  The council had already put up the speed limit signs after a teenager was killed in similar circumstances a year or two before, but after that accident, they put in two road bumps to slow down speeding drivers.
