teamviewer is a free logmein type app that allows you to take control of one PC from another, to give support to you parents, spouse, mates etc or just to check how that download is progressing etc.
It by far easier to set up that most I've used, no painful port forwarding involved etc.
There's now an android version so you can link from your phone and use the touch screen
