  Pressing Back Up will get rid of it.
  
  It's what Sky have decided to put on the screen instead of the red button in the bottom right.

  They ended Sky Text today and for some reason, this grey dot is not displayed, yet if you press red, you get a message saying interactive services are not available.

  Like has been said, just press Back Up to remove it.

  And it's still there and still does nothing 2 years later.
  Is this why my sky bill has gone up by over £5 since last summer
