Ex-weatherman Fred Talbot guilty of abusing boys

Found guilty today and will be sentenced early March.

Always thought he was an oddball and a bit creepy.

It is worrying that he had been reported to the police on several occasions by boys but nothing was ever followed up. This seems to be a common theme in all these cases .... So it was a waste of time reporting them.

However, let's hope that now so many paedos are being caught and dealt with that things change in the future.

Not really, Imagine they didn't report them at all....He gets away with it then. It is always worth reporting

One person's word against another years after the event makes it hard to prove a case as there is no physical evidence and usually no witnesses. It is only in the light of Savile that complaints are being collated against individuals which gives more weight when taken to court. Even so, in most of the celebrity cases we still have them being found not guilty for a proportion of some of the alleged abuse incidents against them. I doubt these victims were making things up but it goes to show how hard it is to prove a case.

I think attitudes have changed a lot now days and in the light of past inactivity, the Police at least will take complaints more seriously.

The police are reading him extracts from his own diary that he kept.
According to Mark Williams Thomas he used a codeword for abuse

When I think back to him on the weather map years ago, I daresay he used that whole - madcap knitted jumper, "aren't I the fun and wacky one" - persona on those poor lads.

How did he end up presenting the weather on This Morning?

According to reports it was after complaints to the school about him, he wasn't a big celeb, when he was seen on TV didn't no one tip the wink to ITV or Richard & Judy?

It could be, it doesn't sound like 'handwriting' but I can't make it out clearly, goes to have ears waxed.

I know. Talk about making yourself look laughable. He admits that his handwriting looks dreadful, yet he then refuses to admit that it's his diary. The man's a flaming idiot!

Yeah, that's what it is. There's no 'hand' before writing.

Given that he was fairly blatant to the extent of keeping a diary, is it beyond the realms of possibilities that former partners knew or shared the same interest?

I wonder if Thomas will be making an Exposure documentary about Talbot.

    I won't hold my breath.

Another very disappointing one. Makes me wonder if there are any people in the public eye still getting away with this kind of thing NOW. Hindsight's a wonderful thing but by its very nature doesn't deal with the present.
