But either way, it's plain that particularly while all the injuries persist, we are in for a bumpy uncomfortable ride this Autumn. And this without playing any of the big boys!
Got a horrible feeling we will loose this match right at the end.
Hopefully not though you can imagine Sunderland going all out, these are the sort of matches they need to win to do well this season. Hopefully united can hang on.

It is going to be a bumpy ride this Autumn, it is hard to believe that only 2 seasons ago the majority of the players on the pitch today were part of the United team that won the league at a canter. It just shows how quickly fortunes can change, one thing is for sure it is hard work watching United nowadays.
Easy point for Sunderland, lack of urgency and pace. Maybe a chronic lack of competition is to blame, and of course injuries. Some fresh, new players hopefully will rejuvenate the team.
Not much to say really. Only saw the second half but we never looked that likely. Happy with a point, all things considered. Even happier if I never see that starting midfield again.
Well at least we didn't lose like i thought we would but that was a hard watch. United are miles away from even finishing in the top 4 this season, before the season started i would of expected 6 points from 6 from our first 2 games or at least 4 Points so to have only 1 Point is disappointing to say the least.
Cleverley in particular was poor, we had plenty of the ball but did nothing with it and there was no flair in the team and we seemed to accept the draw which is not the Manchester United way.
Defensively we look all over the place, we really need to buy an experience defender who can control the back line as it says everything when we are playing Tyler Blackett and Will Keane at the back for the majority of the game when it is obvious they are not yet ready for the first team. I feel we should of kept Rio Ferdinand for another season, yes his best days are behind him but his experience and know how at playing in the Premier League would help us at the back and he could of guided the likes of Blackett and Keane.
Not happy with the performance but there is nothing we can do about it now, it is now onwards and upwards lets hope we can put in a good display against the MK Dons in the League Cup.
This tactic of trying to get Man Utd playing the same system as the Dutch team (3 at the back) is just not working. He either needs to change his system until he gets the players or they will be luckly to finish mid table. If they get this sort of result against Swansea and Sunderland the top teams will rip it part like knife through butter.
So looking ahead to the MK Dons match, could we see LvG protecting our seemingly only fit centre-back's, (Keane, Blackett and Jones), by resting them for the more important league game that follows it?
If so, could that mean a game perhaps for Thorpe or McNair?

I'd imagine that he'll revert to a back 4 if Di Maria arrives. I simply don't see how he could play him in this particular formation.

I'm not sure about the system at the moment, in Pre-Season it looked great but if we can't do it when it matters then it is no good however Van Gaal has said it will take 3 to 4 months to work so we have to give him that time, if it isn't working come Christmas and the New Year then i agree we need to revert back to how we usually play but we have to give Van Gaal's system a chance.
If we had a fully fit squad, and we were to play this current system/formation, what would our best team be something like this:-?
De Gea
Rojo
Evans
Smalling
Shaw
Rafael
Carrick
Herrera
Di Maria
Rooney
Rvp
That should certainly be good enough to challenge at the top end of the league, but how often might we see something like that be put out, seeing as we always seem to have multiple players out injured.

Mata looks to be limping a bit..

Jones again fairly solid at the back.
But got to remember though that we are injury ravaged and our 3 new signings weren't playing.
That is to say, the abject level of quality in the team.
Unfortunately, Fletcher looks done.
Didn't think we were terrible but it's hard to pick out any real positives in that performance. I thought Jones and Blackett had decent games though.
Shaw, Herrera, Rojo, Evans will surely make a significant difference. That's without even mentioning Di Maria.

-Valencia
-Fletcher
-Cleverly
-Young
-Jones
-Smalling
-Blackett
-Keane
-Welbeck
And I would stick Rooney in central midfield.
That's good if he can score or set up more than the defence lets in.
I'd keep Valencia, Jones and Fletcher but I agree on the rest.

He is busy bench-a-warming while watching Cleverley fail to play-a-make.
Time to get rid of two players who have only just made their first team debuts? Seems harsh.
