Thanks for the info.. just had a look at the apads on ebay and i see what you mean.

Will give it a miss then, was thinking about it as an alternative to a Kindle with the added bonus of web surfing etc but i am guessing that it wont be as good as an ereader and that any surfing etc will be slow and lumpy?

Somertek 7" touch screen tablet is OK yes, and OK no. Its touch-screen is resistive, much better than any Archos pre-2009, but not a patch on iPod/iPad. It surfs very well, quite speedily (dependent on connexion) and it claims to be Flash-enabled - yet going to a Flash site such as TVCatchup.com - it says that you must first have Flash to use the site, and when re-directed to Adobe.com - to get Flash - it says "Your browser and OS are not supported by Flash". I believe that Trading Standards may have been breached here by the vendors (ijtsave), so I shall take it up with them. MP3 is supported, WMA not. Sound on the small speakers is tinny and minimal, and as yet, I have found no EQ or tone controls to modify the sound. Its battery longevity - lets just say that longevity is a longer word than the battery life/charge - and that is not being unfair! All in all, CHEAP is what you get with MID/Somertek from ijtsave!!!

128MB is half the Ram of the iPad. No doubt a 400Mhz CPU. (equiv of a 100 Mhz Tegra 2 or 200 Mhz iPad CPU?)

Android is better with 192 or above.
I've no idea if the Android store is pre-hacked onto it.
At least it is not absurdly overpriced.

Opera Mini 5 no doubt runs well if loaded.

As of today, I have officially declined to endorse this APAD, UMPC, Tablet PC, Android hand-held etc. as its video playing capacity is atrocious - both Xvid and mpg formats. Back to the supplier it goes...

(Video playback stutters, and continues in some kind of slow-motion!!!)

Sorry... wasn't that obvious. Looking at the specs we knew it wouldn't be any good!

You don't get decent tablets for 100, that's why no reputable seller sells them, the only place that does it cheap knock off outfits in China trying to cash in on people who can't afford 450 for an ipad.

Those following these threads could have snapped up a Dell streak without the 3GS for 130.
Otherwise known as the Archos 5.

Chalk and cheese.

Well I can afford 450 or more but I don't want an Ipad. There are a few good tablet pc out now. eg Samsung galaxy tab. I'm going to wait until early next year as I'm after a 10 incher (Android or Windows) pad. I would have bought an Ipad but too many restrictions.

What I'm saying is if you want a tablet you have to pay for it. No good thinking you'll get something like an iPad for 100.

They are 100 for a reason.

I phoned the vendors - their tech dept said that the Somertek is not Flash enabled - despite the advertising saying Flash 10.1 is installed! Their sales dept said that the advertising must have been released before the merchandise had been received in their warehouse, so they were only able to advertise what the suppliers had told them... but they were gracious enough to give me a return of merchandise number - for full refund! Here's hoping... (looking at 27" iMac Touch!!!)

I received a Somertek Tablet 7" as a free extra by buying inks. On setting up, I inadvertantly mis read the Locking sweep. I cannot access or change this pass word.

The supplier states that it is impossible to override the password entered. The item is now useless. No useful help or suggestion has been received. I requested a returns number, refused:as I had lost the password, then its my fault then no exchange. Am I entitled to an exchange? I can't be the only one that has this problem I have said I will return the inks ordred, it seems I can't do this either. What can I do now?
