Oh boo! :( And he was so cheesey tonight - maybe they thought it would fit in well with the RVP.

Cynical, opportunistic, mawkish, overly sentimental. No wonder it won. Worst and most unworthy winner yet.

He was good in the semi-final, but tonight was a cop out.

That pretty much sums it up I think - dare I say 'fix;?
    Runs for cover. ;-)

Tricks err "inspired" by Paul Daniels in the audition, and a trick copied word for word including the soldier sentimentality that you can buy online .

What an absolute fraud. There is no talent here bar borrowing someone else's trick

Smart move I think. He gambled it would work and it did.

That's a good word for it - cheesy. His delivery is really cheesy and he talks in those weird short sentences when he's performing the trick.

I watched back his semi final after discussing it on here and was unimpressed. I haven't watched the final one back, but was initially unimpressed by the card switch, at one point he has his right (our left) hand by his side and clearly has something palmed ready to put in his jacket when getting the lighter. Also I don't recall him shuffling much, mostly moving sections of the deck. He also messed up the photo reveal, which I would have thought was the most simple bit.

It was boring and why did he bring that pensioner out at the end they treated him like royalty.

That pensioner was the subject of the story and deserved to be treated like royalty IMO

I never thought he would win. I have never seen someone remain so composed when it being announced. He seems the polished candidate who fits the monarchy. I am glad a magician won, it's great but I was surprised going on his acts alone.

Must have been most of the army voting for him that did it.

100,000 army personnel times five votes each equals 500,000 votes for the magician. Total number of votes is 2.5 million. So if I'm right he got a fifth of the total votes just from the army. That is hard for anyone to beat.

What a massive farce. He did nothing to earn that.

I agree so much I could have written this myself!

I hate the way so many magicians these days are using shop bought tricks. Back in the Paul Daniels, Copperfield, Penn & Teller days they all made up their own tricks. Now you can go to specialist magic shops online and buy pre-made tricks, many of which seem to be the same that Dynamo uses (such as the leaning over one, magnet on ring, and bottle one).

He posed with a war veteran AND holocaust survivor! Double whammy.

Hes a great act and deserved his win imo. How those dreadful shambling storm troopers ever got past the auditions beats me.

Quite annoyed that he won tbh. I liked his other performances but tonight's was really disappointing, and it's obvious that he won because of all the army stuff, no one should win because of any reason apart from talent. Plus I wasn't a fan of Wayne either lol.

Glad they did considering they were public's third fave act!

I don't begrudge him his win. It's all relative and I didn't vote for anyone so can't complain. But wow, a quarter of a million for that trick.

Cant believe he won, his performance in the final was awful. All of his tricks have been done many times before but tick he did tonight is one of the most common ones in the book. He even messed up the presentation of it.

I love magic and would be very happy if a good magician won, but he just turned the sentimentality up to 11 and relied on that and nothing else. I thought he was the worst act of the final by far.

    Worst. Winner. Ever.

If I remember it correctly, all he did was come out and tell the story of the old man.. turning over cards that were the same as the year he did things... then turned them over again to show his picture appearing, and then dramatically introduced the veteran. Am I missing something or am I remembering it correctly. Was that it. What actual tricks did he perform because I didn't see any. Massive sentimental surge vote won it for him, not anything he actually did.

He ripped and burnt the card then made it re-appear in tact again. Pretty much the same as the guy did with the newspaper in the 10yr montage.

Unbelievable. Must have been due to his other tricks :)

Yes, I thought that too. Because this one was very dull and lacklustre.

I think that's just his general personality, calm and not showing too much emotion. Maybe as a soldier he is used to having to be calm under pressure too.

I agree, he won because of the story behind his performance and because he's in the military. Which is appalling really, why are people voting for that? I was surprised when he won, because he was on very early, and it was so boring.

But at least it wasn't Wayne, who I was sure it was going to be when they were down to the last two, and especially because he was on last.

It shows that the manipulation wasn't working so much this series, because Wayne won his semi final despite being on early and the same for Richard in the final.

Jamie Raven must be so annoyed, because he was better and came so close to winning last year. But of course he doesn't have the advantage of being a soldier.

His act was poor tonight and it was the sentimental vote that won it for him.

Having said that, his audition and semi-final performances were great so I think he still deserved to win. I was just a bit disappointed he didn't do anything amazing.

If he did feel the need to wheel out an old war veteran he could have at least incorporated him into an actual trick. Say he opened a wardrobe or box which was empty and then voila there he is.

I agree - he didn't even execute the tricks that well. When he was setting fire to the card he was sort of fumbling around the back of it like a schoolboy doing a magic trick and when he spread the cards at the end to reveal the picture of the soldier, he cocked up the middle section. Extraordinary that he won, but no more extraordinary than it would have been if Wayne had won. Jasmine was my favourite on the night.
