"they seem to suggest that the entire app ecosystem is driven by about one-third of smartphone owners"'
I think it refers to US smartphone owners.

Apart from those into games, I'm sure like me, people get the apps they need and prefer to use the web for more irregular stuff.
Not at all, although I choose iPhone as my main device I also have a LG-G3, which is an absolutely fantastic device with the best screen I have ever seen on a mobile phone. It runs android and I find it to be perfectly adequate.
Well, I would say yes they are correct entire app ecosystem is only driven by the smartphone owners. Think about it I don't think that you are going to see any application over the stores if smartphones aren't created.
They are saying only 1/3rd or all smartphone owners download apps in a month. Not that it's only smartphone owners that download apps!
Even without smartphones tablets would download apps from the same stores.
It is likely of interest to non downloaders and its got a screen resolution of the old Xperia Pro and 3GS.
Beyond that, I guess it is primed as a fitness device.
Anyways the FCC in USA are pushing to 'Unlimited' like our Ofcom has done.
Last I heard FCC was trying to push Verizon to unlimited with there 'Unlimited' terms.
