Can't stand Samantha Morton but love Paddy Considine and will watch anything he's in!
5/10
I also watched the bluray of Hannibal rising, not a bad film although a bit overdrawn at 2 hours.
With building my bluray films I am watching more older films than new lately.
Watching them in bluray is like watching them for the first time.
I was bored yesterday so watched this in the background. Not the best Bond film but passed two hours.
5/10
The Hammer psycho drama format was getting a bit tired by this time.
Is this Open Water 2 ?
seen it before, not bad
This one is OK, but I enjoy the 1st one the most. I haven't watched the latest one.
Forgettable.
3/10 - woeful
Danish film.
Very good and quite different. Family ties, lies and power.
had the dvd last year, and it was'nt bad on my second viewing of it the dvd kept sticking so i missed bits, but this time i could watch the whole film
Standard film noir with Bob Mitchum playing the honest cop battling the system and taking on the mob boss and the corrupt politicians in his pocket. It's a fairly by-the-numbers good-vs-evil storyline, although the large cast of characters made it a bit messy and hard to follow at times. It might be because people in film noir all dress the flippin' same, good guy or bad guy - the market for trench coats and fedoras in the 1940s must have been ginormous.
Anyway, Robert Ryan (who also looks a bit like Mitchum, which doesn't help) is suitably menacing as the head gangster, and there are some pretty exciting scenes along the way. A good, solid film, but not a classic.
I'm not really into cowboy films, although there are exceptions. I have to admit that this was fairly good and I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best film of last year, nor was it really what I'd call a Coen styled film as such, but it did keep me watching without getting bored or start picking out cliches. The acting was quite good, and Hailee Steinfeld is certainly an actress to look out for in the future, who gave an impressive performance considering her age. So, decent film worth watching, and certainly better than the original film, which I found tedious.
Life is like a box of buttons, you never know what you're gonna get.
Typical Hollywood style yarn, just The Ugly Duckling retold with an age twist and a vanity project (if ever there was one) for the pretty but thespian challenged Brad Pitt. And poor Cate Blanchett doesn't have to do very much other than look pretty (but not as pretty as Pitt).
Utter nonsense but it all looked pretty.
Finally got round to seeing this and really enjoyed it - was worried that it would be too confusing to keep up with, but I managed
