Happy Birthday to the programme I was raised on. Earliest memories are of watching this with my mum. Met loads of the cast members in the early 70's as my dad was a local councillor in the area... also remember Ken Barlow doing the opening of our new Granada Tv Rental shop in 1972..
I moved down south many years ago, but have never stopped watching.
Watching the greatest moments this week has been a tearjerker for me because my mum died 2 years ago, and she would have loved watching all of this. She never missed an episode, and she was a true northern working class woman. (My hubby always says she reminded him of Blanche... lol!!!)
Happy 50th Birthday Coronation Street, a wonderful achievement and now a pillar and a institution in British culture and society and it will remain that way for many generations to come.
Happy 50th Birthday to Corrie; one of the legends of British Television, and one of the few things in our house we can all sit down as a family and watch.
Happy Birthday Corrie! Back to its very best and got me hooked once again. And Congratulations to Tony Warren who created such a brilliant, revolutionary and groundbreaking show all those years ago. I wasnt born until long after it started and all the original greats had gone, but yet I still know of and adore the likes of Elsie Tanner and Ena Sharples, characters I so wish I could have had the chance to watch on screen and follow, but thank God I have the chance now to watch future legends walk the cobbles. Well done Corrie and all its cast and crew for the past 50 years. And here's to another 50!
