I seem to remember that Owen Hart and the British Bulldog (before the became famous with the WWE) also wrestling on World Of Sport. I would always watch it on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm.

Also William Regal, who was known as Steve Regal back then.
Good fun, didn't it look tacky ? ITV must have spent all of a fiver on the presentation.
I'm no expert but didn't we just copy the US and Mexican wrestling fads ?
I'd fiorgotten half the names, but I liked the ballet dancing guy, now that IS a classy act.
After that horrendous Big Daddy/Giant Haystacks bout wrestling deserved to die
a slow and painful death.
I used to like this when I was younger, but I soon realised it was as choreographed as any ballet !
Does anyone remember a Japanese (or Chinese) wrestler called Sammy Lee ?
One of his costumes was the yellow & black one-piece catsuit the Bruce Lee wore in "Game Of Death". When he took it off, he was wearing the trunks that Bruce Lee wore in the first fight scene of "Enter The Dragon"
I remember Sammy Lee alright : he combined kung fu with wrestling and was very exciting to watch
I started watching wrestling on ITV about 2 years before it was axed, remember watching people like Rollerball Rocco and Greg Valentine as well as Kendo,Big Daddy etc. Big Daddy retired after his opponent,Mal Sanders, died after being 'belly splashed' by BD
Johnny Kincaid is looking good for his age.
No Clive Myers, he was one of my favorites.
There was an hour long doc about Kendo, pretty sure it was on Ch4 years ago, stayed in character for the whole thing too.
You might mean Masters of the Canvas an Arena documentary on BBC2 which was about Peter Blake (who appeared in tonight's documentary) wanting to paint Kendo's picture.

Eorl is Shirley Crabree's nephew.
Didn't realize there was loads of clips of wrestling on youtube.
There was Johnny Cougar in 'Tiger'.
Also William Regal, who was known as Steve Regal back then.

His autobiography is one of the better wrestling books I've read. It's very honest with regard to his drug usage.
I seem to have a vague recollection of it-would love to see it again.
I never saw the unmasking, that was a bad move.

That happened about 5 mins walk from where I now live
Sorry - I think it was Mal Kirk who died. Mal Sanders is still alive.
Yeah it was I forgot myself I just knew the Big Daddy accident happened just down the road
They tired to get wrestling back in that arena (well Circus) a few years ago but the owner wouldn't allow it
