Rhydian's Album Will Flop

The only people who know, or care, that Rhydian has an album out are X-Factor obsessives. The sort of people who will vote 5 times for their favourite artist and cover this board in messages like "GET XXX OUT!"

So yeah. I doubt his album will do well at all.

That, and it's dull. Even duller than the last effort.

I'll get Rhydian's album. However I'm not an X Factor obsessive. I vote once during each show for my favourites while they're in the show, including Rhydian in 2007. I'll be buying his album because I love his voice and the style of songs he sings.

I wouldn't dream of saying 'GET XXX OUT'. I'm disappointed when my favourites get the boot but I do understand that contestants I don't like are other peoples' favourites - we all have different opinions and there's nothing wrong with that.

#20 is better than I thought without an XF performance. It will likely drop throughout the week though and then disappear without trace in the next few weeks. Probably will sell 100k maximum in total.

Not the top 5 hit predicted then. Maybe thats why he has been so sour about the X factor as he knew his album was not going to be a top 10 hit. Where is it in the classical charts?

I downloaded "O Fortuna" as a single track from Amazon, but a lot of the other songs have been covered so many times I have them by a fair few people already - and enough is enough! :D

Who predicted a top 5 hit for an album without a single and no TV appearance?

Yep if he's not hovering around the top 20 in the run up to Xmas sales will no amount to much over the 100k mark....oh well, he's made loads of money in the last 2 years so I doubt he'll be crying into his Earl Grey tea.

As little as 100k? Really?

I reckon he'll pick up after his slot on Subo's TV programme. Tons of people will tune into that.

Ah yes that will give it a boost no doubt. Classical artists always suffer unless you're someone big as there aren't many outlets for their music to be heard. There's not much discussion about Rhydian this year and no XF performance to get him off to a good start. I can't see him selling consistently personally even with Christmas coming up but we will see.

Actually, The SuBo programme is on 13th December, straight after the X Factor final, so it's a good spot.
He will also be on Alan Titchmarch on Thursday.
He has in fact better promotion than I realised at first.

Yeah.....that is very good. Has there been much in the way of TV advertising?

I wouldn't use the word flop.

I think Rhydians album is pretty much meeting expectations. He hasn't publicised it by appearing on X-Factor.

The word flop is not appropriate. A 'Flop' is what Simon Cowell experiences everytime his viagra runs out!:D

I don't recall anyone predicting that it woud be top 5 .. perhaps you're getting mixed up with Rhyd saying that he woud like a #1 in the Classical Charts and a top 5 in the mainstream .. that's not a prediction it's just stating what he would like or what he's aiming for.

I'm not surprised at that chart position . he hasn't had the same mainstream promotion as last year .. like others have said the AT appearance and the Subo things (especially the Subo one) could see a boost in his sales .. so whilst I don't think that this album will sell as much as the last one I think it's a bit too soon to write it off completely .. I think that it will be a slow burner.

Promotion seems worse to me because of no XF performance - but hopefully loads of people will tune in on Sunday 13 - not necessarilly just to see Rhyd - it is about SuBo after all but you never know :) Also because this album is more classical, I guess Top 20 (?) isnt that bad.

He has an advert but I don't know how much it's broadcast.

It was shown during the XF results show in a lot of ITV regions but not, it appears, in London and the SE. It has been shown on daytime TV also.

Oh right yes sorry it was Rhyd himself that said it, silly me.

I wonder if his non appearance ie singing on the X is what peed him off as he must know it boosts sales to perform on the show, maybe the sniping at the contestants and even poor Dannii was just him being a bit bitchy, but then why should he be asked to perform.

    GG

    Exactly.

'Where were you when Rhydian's album reached number 20 in 2009?'

    We'll all remember.
