Me and my o/h find it very funny. The fact that it is anti (UK) government is fine with us, and the fact that it is on radio 4 on the BBC is a delicious irony.
We don't enjoy it purely for these reasons - in fact one of the funniest things we have ever heard on it was a comment made by Jeremy Hardy (I think) - describing the Scots (which we both are) as haggis munching subsidy junkies.
No one is ever going to enjoy every different type of comedy. I am at a loss to understand why Lee Mack is so successful, so I avoid watching anything he is in.

The thing that ruins the News Quiz for me is Jeremy Hardy. I just don't find the guy funny.

I'm pleased I can podcast the show, and just wish I could do the same with Just A Minute. The comics that do Just A Minute never seem to cross over much to do News Quiz for some reason.

So true, a lot of Radio 4 comedy is Marmite. My wife thinks Count Arthur Strong is hysterical but it leaves me cold, where I loved Claire In The Community,which she hates. She doesn't enjoy The News Quiz either but I enjoy it,

It seems the BBC know there's a problem and things are changing. And now Toksvig's out, "to embark on a new and exciting stage of her career". Yeah, her and Nick Clegg both.
Any guesses for the new host? Will they just move one of the regular panellists like Susan Calman or get some fresh blood to revamp the show. I wonder if Frank Skinner could be in the frame?

I'd have thought the most appropriate farewell panel would be Jeremy Hardy, Mark Steel, Andy Hamilton and Susan Calman, but Calman and Hardy were on this week's penultimate show.
I still think Frank Skinner would be an interesting choice for a new shaken-up News Quiz.
I loved the programme when Barry Took was the host, with Richard Ingram & Alan Coren on the panel ( Yes I'm that old ) Sandy Toksvig sounded like a chicken when she laughed ! I hear she's off to form her own Femenists Equality Party or something !
If the News Quiz was a person it would live in Islington, wear sandals and read The Guardian. It would send its children to private school whilst insisting everyone else's kids go the local comprehensive.

The problem of course is that the Beeb always favours the left, there is no broadcaster of comparable size and with comparable finances as an alternative to this socialist monolith and to add insult to injury the cheeky blighters charge us £145.50 a year for their services whether we want them or not.

I'm quite centre left politically and the show works for me in that regard though it has recently gotten very monotonous in its denigration of the same politicians week in week out.
Jeremy Hardy is funny and while I do like his weekly monologues, they have got unremmitting of late.
I can well imagine if one is even a smidgeon right wing, this programme gets right on your nerves.

Sandy is the worst and so obvious in her politics and her delivery in pre scripted so called jokes.
There is scope for a News Quiz but I want to hear curve balls being thrown at journalists
and newspaper editors.
