I am making pancakes this evening and we usually have maple syrup with cream or ice cream with ours.

Shopping at the supermarket yesterday I was amazed they were selling pancake mix and ready made pancakes. Do people honestly not know how to make a pancake batter?

The American tripe is much more tasty than boring lemon and sugar imo ;-)

An Englishman, a Welshman and an Irishman were discussing how they came to name their children.

"My lad was born on St George's Day" said the Englishman. "So we named him George."

"Thats funny," said the Welshman. "It was similar for us. Our boy was born on St David's Day, so we named him David."

"Jesus what a massive coincidence," said the Irishman. "Exactly the same thing happened with me and my son Pancake."

This evening, I'm making a lower carb, socca-like version made with chick-pea flour and olive oil, and eating them with eggs and herbs.

They're a bit earthy and slightly sweet, but a lot will depend on the olive oil. I make them every year and love them.

I like savoury pancakes as well. I once had pancakes stuffed with cream and veal at a restaurant and they were delicious

English pancakes are the thin type of crepes, whereas American pancakes are thick , there is an advert for American ones covered in marshmallow and other things, but English ones just need lemon and sugar,or some people use orange juice.

I've seen everything from cheese and mushrooms to rhubarb compote and creme fraiche or nutella and bananas added to English pancakes.

Maple syrup is the traditional topping for American pancakes which are just larger versions of Scottish drop scones.

I am an atheist so I don't celebrate it. I just have pancakes as and when I choose.

I've been a cheat and bought some, I'm a pretty good cook if I do say so myself, but I mess up pancakes every year ! So this year have bought the big American fluffy ones and will be having them with maple syrup and strawberries.
