47 Ronin (2013) I kept feeling i was watching a really bad LOTR sequel, set in Japan with no Hobbits. Sometimes films can be better than the reviews suggest, this isn't one of these though. It looked nice and i made it through to the end so a 3/10,

Wings [1927]. Director: William A. Wellman

    8/10

Destined to be the only silent winner of the Best Picture Oscar until The Artist unexpectedly came along. This Great War movie boasts some amazing flying scenes. Lead actor Charles Rogers had never flown a plane before so they gave him a few hours training and stuck him in the plane. He had to fly it, operate the camera and act. The battle on the ground is impressively mounted too (Texas doubling for France).

    Two very different contrasting films

This is the end - silly end of the world film in which Seth Rogen etc play themselves . Some good lines I'd give it 7/10

London river - set on 7th July 2005 . A Muslim man and a Christian woman set out to find the whereabouts of their children in the capital on that day . Very powerful and I like the fact the directors showed the multi / faith , ethnicity of London . I'd give it 9/10

Lovelace. Decent, but a bit predictable. I didn't even recognise Sharon Stone. 6/10

Just read all of the JR books, and loved them.I had doubts going in
that the diminutive Mr Cruise would not have the ability to pull off
the six feet five inch JR in the film.I had also read online that the
film stays true to the book (One Shot, the 9th JR novel by Lee Child)
It doesn't though. It has to be' pepped up' with a pointless car chase
sequence, and the end set piece is nothing like the book at all.
Cruise is an okay actor, nothing special, and his ego must have
over reached his ambition,to think that he could bring the feral
menace of JR to the screen. So a huge let down, but I half expected
    that anyway!

    American Hustle - solid 8/10 bordering on a 9/10
Bale was really good as was Lawrence. Great cameo from De Niro too in a scene full of suspense.

    Anchorman 2 - 6/10
Apart from a few funny moments, disappointing really.

    The talented Mr Ripley
great cast especially Philip Seymour Hoffman playing a snotty rich kid.

Fight Club. Ed Norton is absolutely superb in this and I find him quite hot too. Really hoped he'd go on to 'bigger & better'. 7.75/10

Still excellent. I forgot it was based on Ernest Hemingway's short story, though. For some reason I thought it was based on Richard Brooks's story. I never read a Hemingway, so I'll give his short story a try.

I forgot that was on the other night. I was going to record it.:(
Shall have to have a look to see if it's on catch-up. It sounds interesting.
