Long gone, the Vault's moved on to focus on the late 90s and 00s, ironically the CD:UK era; now, the only thing the Vault shows that used to be on ITV of a Saturday morning is Sabrina the Teenage Witch...

10 years ago we were well into the first run of repeats on the vault. I've noticed Chart Show TV has recently started a new programme called What's The Goss which has new videos but with information on the artist on them a bit like what the original Chart Show did.

Yes, it was, but it was on ITV for most of its life. Someone should bring it back anyway, it was by far the best music programme. It showed a wide range of music (plenty of stuff you'd not see on other programmes), has no presenters and no audiences full of screaming 15 year old girls.

I really like this show as it didn't have a presenter getting on your nerves,it used to focus on a lot of different music charts and back when if you didn't have satalight or cable it was about the only show where you could see your favourite bands new video in full. I know we've got all the music channels now but I'm sure it could do well say on a Saturday morning instead of all those cooking shows. Maybe Channel 4 could show it again. But sadly because of the IMO awfull music out now I don't think I'll be watching. Though back in the day it was great.

20 years this year since it finished on ITV. I miss the obscure videos you would see which you don't get on the music channels. Channel 4 had a programme called Freshly Squeezed a few years ago which although it had presenters and interviews also showed the sort of videos that the Chart Show would show and I suppose the closest I've seen to obscure videos getting shown on TV now are the small clips you get on Sunday Brunch.

Every time this thread gets ressurected I keep thinking "are the repeats back", just to be disapointed.

While I'd like to see the show come back, let's be honest it's sadly pretty much irrelevent now. The charts, let's be honest, nobody cares about them, and there's so many music channels and not to mention music videos a click away on line, I don't think many people would be interested.

I DO however think repeats of the show would do well though, even better than the 2006/7 Vault screenings. There's a real 80s/90s Nostalgia boom right now, Top Of The Pops repeats have been doing very well on BBC4 for years now. As long as they're promoted and put in an accessible place (and as Sony now own The Chart Show and have channels on Freeview, that's quite possible- more accessible than The Vault was in the 00s) I think they'd find an audience.

I always considered the Chart Show repeats quite invaluable for lots of forgotten songs that will pretty much never get played on radio or the music channels (same with BBC4's TOTP repeats- but the Chart Show often went even further from the mainstream, especially in the Channel 4 days) and you probably won't go looking for online. I found quite a few songs and artists I liked I probably wouldn't have known about otherwise during the repeats.
