BBC1's schedule for FA Cup Quarter-final weekend (7th-9th March):

    Saturday
    7.30-8.30am (BBC2) FA Cup Rewind
    12.10-1.00pm Football Focus
    4.30-5.00 Final Score
5.20-7.30 Match of the Day Live (Aston Villa v West Brom)
11.15-11.55 Match of the Day: FA Cup Highlights (Bradford v Reading and Aston Villa v West Brom)

    Sunday
8.20-9.00am Match of the Day: FA Cup Highlights
    9.00-10.00 (BBC2) FA Cup Rewind
10.30-11.05pm Match of the Day: FA Cup Highlights (Liverpool v Blackburn)

    Monday
7.30-10.00 Match of the Day Live (Man Utd v Arsenal)

There is also a regular Premier League MOTD on Saturday 10.45-11.15 (repeated Sunday 7.45-8.20), which will be highlights of QPR v Tottenham.

Rather weird they've billed the Premier League highlights and FA Cup highlights as separate programmes. Surely they'll have the same presenter and the same pundits? It's only three games in total too so it seems very strange - is it contractual?

I suspect as that's the sole PL game that weekend - postponed from this weekend due to Spurs' involvement in the Capital One cup final - the QPR game will be presented from the ground by someone like Dan Walker or Gabby Logan.

Why 30 mins for one match

They can only show 10 mins of action per the contract !!!!!

It's probably more to do with the fact that the FA Cup highlights can go on the iPlayer immediately, while Match of the Day can't go on until a few days later, so they can do two shows and put the FA Cup highlights up straight away. Of course it's exactly the same scenario on Sunday with the League Cup Final, they have done League Cup matches on MOTD before now (like the highlights of the delayed Manchester derby semi-final in 2010 which was on a night of a full Premier League programme and they showed both in the same show), but of course The League Cup Show is an independent production so it counts as part of the indie quota if they do that.

Of course, in the past we've had occasions when there's only been one Premier League match on the Saturday of an FA Cup weekend and the Beeb haven't been able to show highlights at all, a few years back Man U vs Hull was played at 3pm on a Saturday because both had gone out of the Cup, and the Beeb couldn't show any highlights and everyone moaned. But in recent seasons we've had West Brom vs Wolves and Liverpool vs Swansea, both played on the Sunday of an FA Cup weekend, shown on MOTD2.

Except that's only for Sunday matches that were live on TV !!!!!!!!!!!!

FA Cup replays are we looking as far ahead as Easter Monday for an Arsenal v Man United one.

Similar to the Chelsea v Man UnIted situation a couple of seasons ago

No the Monday will not be needed
Tuesday and Wednesday after Easter are allowed
UEFA have a week off so can't stop our matches being played Tue 7th and Wed 8th April

Why aren't Chelsea playing their game in hand against Leicester this weekend? Both teams have been eliminated from the FA Cup

Another question is why they have to have two MOTD highlight shows that night, Why don't they bundle the two shows together instead of Lineker twiddling his thumbs in the studio for 5 mins, while they play the theme tune twice with a clip for Poldark in the middle

The most logical answer has already been provided by Steve Williams as to why; iPlayer purposes. Plus Lineker won't actually be doing either show; Dan Walker will host the FA Cup highlights Saturday, Mark Chapman on Sunday and Steve Bower will link together the Saturday PL game.

I presume because Mourinho wants the weekend off before a Champions League game with PSG ??

Not sure about that united have been strong at home this season and I fancy them to win the tie. Plus they beat Arsenal away earlier in the season.

Why is the FA youth cup on itv4? Is that not part of the BBC/ BT deal?

Seemingly not. Of course ITV also have a deal with the FA for England matches so perhaps they're bundled in with those, or they're just sold on an ad hoc basis like how the Beeb had the rights to England Women matches when they had no other contract with the FA. Seemingly ITV have space for them on ITV4 while BT have enough of this kind of football with the U21 matches and the Beeb can't find anywhere where they'd sit.

But didn't we see the packages the FA put out to tender, with one package having the Community Shield, FA Trophy final, and semi-finals and final of the FA Youth Cup?

I'm sure someone here linked to it.

Think that was always going to be the case after Chelsea's exit. Doubt the FA would even entertain the idea of helping them in Europe...

That said, if United get through their game against Chelsea will be rescheduled.

It would certainly be weird if someone resold the game to ITV. Especially with Dykes comments regarding ITV and the fa cup

That game could be rescheduled for May 19/20 and potentially could be the night when Chelsea win the title.

2 things to say about the ITT. 1st the package containing the FA community shield match, the FA Trophy final match, and the FA Youth Cup matches (both legs of both semi finals, and both legs of the final) were in a completely separate package in the ITT to any of the other England matches or FA Cup matches.

2nd it is clear from the FA Cup deal that the BBC and BT have, that the FA are flexible when it comes to awarding the rights of packages to channels in a way that best suits the channels. In the original ITT there was no packages offering alternative 3rd and 4th picks or 1st and 2nd replay picks.

It does seem strange though that that package would be split between ITV and BT.
If the FA was that flexible, it also makes it even more mysterious that the BBC didn't want the Community Shield.

I wasn't aware Jose Mourinho was in charge of the fixture list. Makes it even more ridiculous that he seems to complain about it every week ;-)

Or Chelsea could have won the title and Man U could be more than 6 points off 4th place

    Will Sky risk that ??
Think they will move it to Weds April 8th just to be safe ??

They will have no choice but to play it then if United's cup game goes to a replay.

Can a game be brought forward? I guess there would probably be enough time to schedule Chelsea v Man Utd for the midweek following Easter.

I suspect Sky would rather not have to show that game in the final midweek of the season. Aside from the fact that the Chelsea v Man Utd game may have nothing riding on it, it would also prevent Sky from showing West Brom v Chelsea on the Monday night.

The last round of fixtures is on a Sunday, so Chelsea v Man Utd could be scheduled for the Thursday, leaving the previous Monday night slot open for West Brom v Chelsea.
