Intriguing final day at the Rose Bowl where Hants require a further 197 with 6 wkts remaining. Sussex did not enforce the follow on with a 213 lead and were bowled out cheaply in their 2nd inns.

Not sure if this should be in the International thread or this one but as it may affect Yorkshire, thought I'd post it in here

Json Gillespie has been confirmed as coach of Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League and will ponder the option of also taking on the job of South Australia coach as the state searches for the man to replace Darren Berry in the latter role.

The Strikers' announcement that they had secured Gillespie was accompanied by expressions of hope from the South Australian Cricket Association chief executive Keith Bradshaw that the former Australia fast bowler would entertain the thought of taking up both gigs.

However such a decision would likely force Gillespie out of the role of Yorkshire coach, a post he has held with great success, so much so that he has commonly been touted as the next coach of England. In discussing how excited he was to be returning to a job in his home state, Gillespie gave no indication he was thinking of leaving Headingley.

Lancs get there season underway with a trip to Derby although I guess the media will be more interested in Surrey's trip to Glamorgan where they are batting with Sanga at 3 and KP at 4. They may not want to get the openers out;-)

Derby have put Lancs in to bat

I do hope not. God's own county's current position is entirely down to him.

Sidebottom out for a few weeks, so Yorkshire have lost another player. Notts doing ok against them at lunch . Good start by Derbyshire against Lancs, and great start by Sussex 153-1 , Machin 87 off 67

KP out early. I never bought into that rather stupid argument that he had already scored enough runs to earn an England recall.

It might yet be a tough season for him, even in Division 2.

Think Sanga's gonna have some fun this summer especially in Division 2

Hope he can do the same in the one day comps for us as well

Caldy were either very poor or naive.

At this time of year they should have opted for batting practice.

Outstanding knock by Hales, a reminder to the test selectors . Yorkshire have asked England to release Adil Rashid from the West Indies tour . They are a bit peeved at having Plunkett, Rashid , Bairstow and Lyth twiddling their thumbs while they could be playing for Yorkshire . Tough . Hales was not released by England last year when he could have played in an important OD game .

Having six men in the England squad is a bit unlucky though.

KP must be kicking himself for missing out

Big score for Surrey with Steven Davies reaching 200* before the declaration

Think we may score a lot of runs this season:)

Looks like a good game between Derby and Lancs. Notts and Yorkshire heading for a bore draw.

The only good thing about today was Cowdrey getting out first ball. I've never seen Fabian Cowdrey but I assume he he a rather portly chap who wears gigantic flannels

Good 3rd day for Lancs with a 10th wicket partnership of 100 and then nicking 2 Derby wickets out before the close

Derby need another 338 before we get 8 wickets:)

Looks like a win for Lancs . Yorkshire could still beat Notts. Aaron Finch, Yorkshire's overseas player, is out for 3 months, so they'll be looking for a replacement , though with 7 players out of the present team they are not doing too badly, and could cope without an overseas player

A win and an eleven point draw is not a bad start.

Could be on for that , KP still going .

Some pretty good scores today . Somerset piling them on against Middlesex , good to see Tres getting a ton . Sussex have added 140 for the last wicket, and Hales continues his good form with a slow 80 not out

In the County Championship match at Taunton - Middlesex are 10/0 at the close of play.

Somerset were all out for 408 (Hildreth 187 and Trescothick 140) in their first innings.

    It was Trescothick's 56th and Hildreth's 32nd first-class centuries in their careers.

Trescothick and Hildreth also put on a 261 run stand in a third wicket partnership (of a run rate of 5.40 in 48.2 overs) as well.

It was a terrible batting collapse though (for Somerset) from 312/2 to 408 all out - with five (of our) batsmen getting ducks in the scorecard.
