One of the finest actors of his generation , I'll never forget his screaming at the end of 'The Wicker Man' . Callan , and The Equalizer were fine too. R.I.P. Edward.

The catbox will be watching the feature film "Callan " on DVD tonight
The British actor, known for his roles in cult movie The Wicker Man and US TV series The Equalizer, passed away in hospital today after suffering from various illnesses, including pneumonia, his agent confirmed.
One of the greatest British actors of all time - very very sad news, a total gent and no one has a bad word to say about him - a true professional - I will really miss him being on the screen. R.I.P.
Very sad news indeed. I'm quite shocked and sad that's he's gone. Although EW hadn't been on TV much in the last 15 years, I always thought he'd be around forever.
Loved The Equalizer, although shamefully I've never been able to sit through The Wicker Man.

RIP Mr Woodward
Why has Edward Woodward got 4 D's in his name?
Because Ewar Woowar just sounds stupid!
RIP Ewar
Very sad. Although I always thought his name sounded like a petrol lawn-mower powering down.
That's the chap. Thanks for that.

He was a good actor.
Loved The Equalizer, although shamefully I've never been able to sit through The Wicker Man.
