    Each to their own. :)
    Indeed.
I would be all for this show if I thought it was well done. For me that means there should be wit in the dialog, strong, dramatic writing (plot and character) and well produced visuals and an interesting or original hook or premise.
Well I see all that. I guess I just appreciate it more because I know I couldn't do any better.
This show has an interesting (but not original) premise...
Well I've never heard of anything similar so it's certainly original to me.
I will finish the first episode. I don't think it's likely I'll watch any more eps after that.
    You're a couple of weeks behind ;)

As for DareDevil, it has a realistic (some would say dark) "grittiness" to it and interesting, likable characters and a dramatic theme. It's not your average TV pablum.
It's not something I would have predicted before watching it that I'd like.
I may yet give it a go.

Well, I have to admit, it got better in the last 10 minutes. I still have problems with the casting and some of the acting, but it planted enough of a hook in those last 10 for me to watch episode two.

Harry learning more about the bracelet and it's previous owner was interesting last night, with the missing Kate too - and Eve being the only one who can take it off, it seems [chop the hand of, maybe] ....but the ex, still gets on my nerves, she's awful.

Lots of best views of London.

My only issue (and I think someone already mentioned this, and there's no way around it) is that we know the protagonist will be fine so the cliff-hangers are pretty pointless.

For me, this is best home-made (ie not a US import) show Sky1 has ever made.

(Although that Sean Bean show is back soon too and that's not too bad. Can't remember title at the mo.)

Although that is very true, I still can't watch Russian roulette scenes … I was traumatised by The Deer Hunter!

London really does look its best in this production; beautifully photographed.

Eve Best: It seems such an lacklustre and insipid role when you consider her part in Nurse Jackie.

I thought it was a bit rubbish......

Does it get better after the first episode?

Liking how Suri is watching Harry's back, with the video of him at the 'normal' casino - not sure about the one with the Rat:o

You just knew he was going to get out of the gun game, from last week [it was in the preview at the end of the episode] - and Winter's cross, it's personal.

And the boss at the Prison - just got where I had seen him before - Heroes....and are all the inmates, drugged.....

    trivia:
I've got a Mug from The Clink Restaurant - HMP Brixton [a christmas present]

Plus - I've always liked the theme tune to this, just checked, it's sung by Corinne Bailey Rae, written by her too.

How exactly does that dodgy casino make any money?

I feel the thread for this show is on the wrong forum. It's just a police procedural with a small fantasy element. A good procedural but a procedural.

After my initial enthusiam for this show, I must confess that it's really not cutting the mustard. Run of the mill storylines with a bit a mystical fantasy thrown in. I would have liked to have seen more emphasis on the consequences of wearing the bracelet for Harry but this seems to have disappeared into a minor sub plot of the show.

    Disappointing.

Main plot is a bit slow know, Suri should be defending Harry more and the Brother last night, all that was a bit silly really...but loving the London locations, which is the star for me.

Still have no time for the ex-wife and the Prison.

The brother didn't seem that upset did he ? Harry's boss seems really shifty but so does the ex's boyfriend ........

I feel the opposite, I think he is very straight, hates dirty cops, hates corruption in the force...wants his office to be run by the rules.

How many episodes is this? Thought it was 8 but obviously not.

It's pretty clear to me that the Prison Governor is Golding.

Nope. 4 episodes in. Had enough. I have given it every opportunity. Deleting from planner. If I want to see London in all its splendor I will go for a beer in the City/Shoreditch/Soho instead.

I'm sticking with it but a couple behind and have absolutely no idea what is going on or who half the people are.

...I'm also enjoying this show apart from this VERY thing! >:(

I usually don't watch ANY of the "next time, on...." bits they tend to do on many series which I watch due to giving away the story but it seems that Lucky Man's "next time, on" bit is so speedily put up onto the screen, you don't have time to switch off before they show it!!!!

It's not exactly a spoiler that the lead character doesn't die in the first episode, though!

Did it really show us anything we didn't know would happen?

I thought the coming next week part (which I try to miss, but was distracted and to slow to stop it) really took the biscuit last night, but i will spoiler what i say, in case anyone (all 3 of you watching the show lol) didn't see it:
Showing his brother was clearly not dead, which i though was part of the cliff hanger - will they kill him - in next weeks preview was clearly not needed, and spoils the end of show atmosphere.

This has been alright, not amazing or anything.
Really, it could have been a detective story without the wristband thing, as really it hasnt added anything to the story.

It's huge mistake to add a preview of the next episode, especially when they are trying to finish on a cliffhanger 5 seconds before.

Also, something that happens a lot with programmes, they cast an actor who is quite high profile in an apparently minor role, so right from the off i pretty much know there is more to the character than we are first being led to believe.

I pretty much knew the prison warden was going to be the big boss man from the moment i say him due to the actors high profile.

Must confess have never knowingly seen that actor before and after reading your post looked him up on IMDB, Not seen any of his series.

Rather an abrupt ending. I wonder if the ending they shot wrapped up the series completely, but because it was so popular and went to a second series, they had to rework it in the edit? I really, really want to own that house, BTW. I should probably start saving...

I think so , the fade to black , Golding escaping around a Bush . Because if it was the original ending it was crap !!

Just watched this in two chunks. Tbh, if I had been watching it weekly then I probably would've given up. The only lead actors I liked were Steven Mackintosh and Amara Karan. Darren Boyd was as one note as ever, did he think he was still in Spy?

Hated the prison scenes, annoying kid, and poor old Suri really got the raw end of the lucky stick - dead boyfriend, nearly lost a kidney and took a good smack in the face. She should change partners immediately.
