The sound of people eating popcorn enrages me so much it often harms my enjoyment of a film when I go to the cinema.

Having said that, I do usually go for films I really want to see, especially those that lend themselves to the big screen, but in awards season I like to see as many of the contenders as possible before the Golden Globes, and as half of them have yet to be released in the UK (and good-quality screeners are readily available) watching online is a great option for me.

ETA: I also live an hours drive away from a multiplex so I can't get there every day.

would like to echo all those rooting for Amy Adams. I'm genuinely torn as to whether she will beat Meryl, and reading through countless blog/web predictions, it seems it could go either way.

Sadly i don't have E, but can anyone recommend good live-streaming sites? :)

I think it's available via a live stream on the golden globes website.

Just came across this site also which says it's showing it live in HD online:

After an abysmal performance from Meryl, i will scream if she wins and Amy doesn't. I absolutley worship Meryl but i found it to be one of the weakest performances of her whole career. I know Amy won't win an oscar this time around, but i will be over the moon if she wins because then she has at least won a major award. She has put in some tremendous performance since her breakthrough back in 2004/2005, so this will be a pay off for her hard work. She won't just be Amy Adams, she will be Golden Globe Award winner Amy Adams.

E entertainment are also showing it live, which shocked me, as they only ever show the red carpet in the Uk edition of the channel.

I was torn between Cuaron and McQueen for Best Director - I wouldn't be surprised if they split the Picture and Director awards between those two films...

    Purely on personal preference.

    BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
    12 Years A Slave
    Captain Phillips
    Gravity
    Philomena
    Rush

I expect 12 years will win, which I'd be equally happy about, but Captain Phillips just edges it for me. The tension was palpable throughout and that scene at the end broke my heart. I did enjoy Gravity as well, but that was because of the pretty effects and my girl crush on Sandra Bullock.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
    Cate Blanchett - Blue Jasmine
    Sandra Bullock - Gravity
    Judi Dench - Philomena
Emma Thompson - Saving Mr Banks
    Kate Winslet - Labor Day

Wasn't my kind of film, but it was a masterclass performance from Cate.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
    Chiwetel Ejiofor - 12 Years A Slave
Idris Elba - Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
    Tom Hanks - Captain Phillips
Matthew McConaughey - Dallas Buyers Club
Robert Redford - All Is Lost

Knock out performances from both of them!

BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
    American Hustle
    Her
    Inside Llewyn Davis
    Nebraska
    The Wolf of Wall Street

I really wanted to like American Hustle as a fan of all the main cast, but it just didn't do it for me although I couldn't fault any of the performances. Her was amazing! Slightly creepy and weird, but at the same time very heart warming and captivating. :) Also more of the lovely Amy Adams, which always helps! Shame Scarlett Johansson was ruled ineligible for a nomination.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
    Amy Adams - American Hustle
    Julie Delphy - Before Midnight
    Greta Gerwig - Frances Ha
    Julia Dreyfus - Enough Said
Meryl Streep - August: Osage County

As much as I like Queen Meryl, it wasn't one of her best.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
    Christian Bale - American Hustle
    Bruce Dern - Nebraska
Leonardo DiCaprio - The Wolf of Wall Street
Oscar Isaac - Inside Llewyn Davis
    Joaquin Phoenix - Her

    BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
    The Croods
    Despicable Me 2
    Frozen

    BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM
    Blue is the Warmest Color
    The Great Beauty
    The Hunt
    The Past
    The Wind Rises

Great film about young love and self discovery... certainly very eye opening! The French certainly aren't shy! :o:D

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
    Sally Hawkins - Blue Jasmine
    Jennifer Lawrence - American Hustle
    Lupita Nyong’o - 12 Years A Slave
Julia Roberts - August: Osage County
    June Squibb - Nebraska

Always good quality in everything she does. Shout out to Sally Hawkins, good to see her finally getting some rewards for her hard work, held her own against the tour de force of Cate Blanchett. Nyong'o was great in 12 Years as well.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
    Barkhad Abdi - Captain Phillips
    Daniel Bruel - Rush
    Bradley Cooper - American Hustle
    Michael Fassbender - 12 Years A Slave
Jared Leto - Dallas Buyers Club

    Two great barsteward characters!

    BEST DIRECTOR – MOTION PICTURE
    Alfonso Cuaron - Gravity
    Paul Greengrass - Captain Phillips
    Steve McQueen - 12 Years A Slave
    Alexander Payne - Nebraska
David O. Russell - American Hustle

    BEST SCREENPLAY – MOTION PICTURE

    American Hustle

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE – MOTION PICTURE
    Alex Ebert, All Is Lost
Alex Heffes, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
    John WIlliams, The Book Thief
Hans Zimmer, 12 Years A Slave

BEST ORIGINAL SONG – MOTION PICTURE
    Atlas, Hunger Games: Catching Fire
    Let It Go, Frozen
    Ordinary Love, Mandela
Please Mr Kennedy, Inside Llewyn Davis
    Sweeter Than Fiction, One Chance

Love the Demi Lovato version of Let It Go.

Is the Globes the one where they are sat at tables and allowed drink?

If so I prefer it to the stuff BAFTAs and OSCARS.
The BAFTAs must be awful stitting in a theatre in black tie or whatever.

Well E! is rerunning it all day, but I don't think any freeview channel has any rights to highlights.

Sadly can't watch live, I have classes tomorrow and too much work to do, but I'm recording it and I'll watch tomorrow night.
