This may sound odd, but The Haunting. A 12 rated movie. For some reason, it freaks me out beyond belief. Horror movies usually don't bother me in the slightest.

    The original Carrie was scary

Movies have never really scared me but after watching the strangers in a empty house in my home cinema it creeped me out for weeks.

I really like Japanese horror there is one i only saw once on film 4 extreme one night but can't remember the title but was set in a school haunted by a girl in a white dress there was a scene where a student walked down a corridor only for her to appear in different places silently simaler to a scene in the strangers (kitchen scene) this scene was a little unnerving.

"jump moments" don't count, that's just a cheap trick.

If jump moments don't count then it narrows it right down to Paranormal Activity. I only ever saw the first one but i genuinely had trouble sleeping for the next few days after, and going across the landing for a wee forget it, i'd rather pee myself lol. Every time I went on the landing the hairs on the back of my neck would stand on end.

The other was pretty creepy. Not the others, but the other, it had John ritter in it. It's about twin brothers.

Paperhouse, was so strange that it scared me a bit.
