Danny - at the end of Pearl Harbour
The end of the Notebook, gets me everytime.
Bruce Willis - Armageddon
John Coffey - The Green Mile
When Channing Tatum's dad dies in - Dear John
My Sister's Keeper.
Titanic - not when Jack dies, more when they are showing you the cabins and the 'lower class' have accepted that they can't get off the boat.
The boy in the Stripped pyjamas - although it didn't make me cry, I just sat there stunned for a little bit.
The Passion of the Christ - (even though everyone knows what happens, and there were no surprises) - it was incredibly moving - and just sad!
I know that there are loads more, but for now, this is all!
it's an offscreen death but when River Phoenixs character Chris is announced as dead in Stand By Me and the music kicks in and the line "Although I hadn't seen him in more than ten years, I know I'll miss him forever. " is said by The Writer. im filling up just thinking about it
Just made me angry for the historical bulshirt!
How the scriptwriters got away with such lies is hard to understand. I mean, it was so blatantly pro the poor downtrodden Irish immigrants and so anti English establishment it was unreal. Why on earth was this political and social theme even needed?
Great thread!
Have to agree with the first post - Marge from Jaws 2 traumatised me when I was young.
Another good post was the person who said Artax - the horse from the Neverending Story - again bawling in the cinema.
But the NUMBER ONE saddest movie death has to be Lisolette in The Towering Inferno. All she goes through to keep those children safe throughout the film, then sucker punch. The most traumatising screen death of any character in a movie, IMO. Anyone agree?
Tom Hanks in Philadelphia, the final scene when you hear Neil Young start to sing and the family are watching Tom on a home movie as a young boy, happy and healthy. I have seen it twice and really sob at the end.
Ah yes, great choice.
Also, the
death of Setsuko
in the excellent Japanese Anime 'Grave of the Fireflies'.
John Coffee - The Green Mile
Cpt. John H. Miller & Irvin Wade - Saving Private Ryan
Boromir - Lord of the Rings Mufasa - The Lion King
Maggie - Million Dollar Baby
William Wallace - Braveheart
Harry - Armageddon
Wow, I cry an awful lot. God I'm pathetic. I feel like...

I am a big softy
No you don't, I've never owned a dog, and I too was sobbing buckets at the end.
they were probably crying due to the fact, that 187 mins was taken from their lives........and they couldn't get it back, That's how I felt.
Your sob even more if you have a dog.
You found a dead dog sad, I found a dead 100 foot tall gorilla sad. Opinions are great.
that bit was too sad
Dobby in Harry Potter
how has no one mentioned that yet?!
I wasn't that moved by Dobby's death:o - but Cedric Diggory's - or more to the point, his Father's reaction to it, choked me up a bit.:(
Melanie in Gone With the Wind
Tony in West Side Story
lol, so true.
Tom Hanks (Capt. John H. Miller) in Saving Private Ryan.

The ones that made me sob were
Marley - Marley and Me
John Coffey - The Green Mile
Shelby - Steel Magnolias
Barbara Hershey - Beaches
Jon Voight - The Champ
Maximus - Gladiator
actually the whole last half-hour is just heart breaking
Ah yes, great choice.
Also, the
Marley and Me is one of the only films I've sat and sobbed to. Then my elderly dog came in and I cried even more. :D Definitely a depressing moment.
That gets me every time...
Satine in Moulin Rouge is another one...
