Freezing Chicken

I recently made a thread about freezing leftovers, but thought I'd make a new one to ask this specific question.

Is it safe to place hot poultry straight into the freezer?

I've always been told not to put hot meat/poultry in the fridge but I wondered if this applied to putting it in the freezer too? I'm making a recipe later which includes roasted chicken legs. I'll have some left over so I wanted to save them for another night.

I've Googled but there's a lot of conflicting advice. Some say put it straight in, others say let it cool down first... what's the right thing to do?

Thanks! :)

This applies to all food, personally I would cool it down. There is no health risk with the chicken either way but if you have a small freezer the problem is that could raise the temp of the freezer so other items start to defrost.

    Thank you.

I let the chicken cool before placing in the freezer. Fingers crossed it tastes okay when I have it :D
