He has served three years. He will be at the club until 2020, unless something as drastic like relegation happens to Newcastle, which could be next season. You just do not know.

    Thanks.

The big question is how Newcastle will bounce back in the summer.

Buying strikers who can score goals. Remy is currently the best striker for Newcastle, but he isn't even ours and he hasn't played due to injuries recently. He will be gone in the Summer, so strikers are a must for Newcastle. I would say a new manager would help, but this won't happen.

However, it shows if your team is relegated, there is always a chance to get back up. I think Relgation can be good in a way, because it gives the team more fighting spirit.

A lot of Sunderland supporters are hoping relegation will be a good thing. It will allow us to get rid of a lot of the deadwood collected by Bruce, O'Neill and Di Canio. There is going to be a massive clearout over the summer as many of the players are out of contract, loans end and others are sold to cut the wage bill. The trouble is that the only one who is able to attract a decent transfer fee is Adam Johnson.

Next season should be interesting. We'll just miss the 6 points from Newcastle. We'll have to get them from Middlesbrough or Leeds instead.

Agree The Toon fans have been strangely quiet on our Premier decimation this season as they know they will have an extra 6 points next season ! :) think Sunderland will need to cull at the very top as since Nial Quinn has left the club has lost direction !

Still have a feeling about Sunderland but they look like they've given up

Poyet hasn't covered himself in glory of late

Agree ! tactically hes made bad mistakes in the last few games which and purchases like Scooco Bridcutt and paticullay Vergini have left supporters questioning his ability !

Fulham won't be too disappointed about this defeat as I doubt they expected to get anything from this game. With a much easier run in compared to Norwich, just one win from games against Hull, Stoke and Crystal Palace could be enough to save themselves.

What a win for Sunderland! That really shakes things up down there.

Their game against Cardiff next week is monumental!

Dear Liverpool - after taking points off City and Chelsea, can we please keep Borini as a reward?

I had given up a week ago, but survival could be back on now. We have Cardiff, West Brom and Swansea at home, all of which are winnable.

Yes, very much all back in the melting pot with every team well capable of surviving.

Looks like 3 from 5 with probably West Ham, Swansea, Hull and Aston Villa all now to various degrees just about OK.

West Brom's better GD than the others could be vital and I do think Norwich will get something from these infamous last 4 matches.

    Oh, who knows ?!

Fulham blow a 2-goal lead against Hull and remain in the drop zone.

West Brom pull themselves clear with a win but Villa continue to slump.

Sunderland v Cardiff tomorrow won't be for the feint hearted!

Norwich are basically down already, it's just a matter of which team can take advantage in the next few games.

I agree to a degree, but home to Arsenal on the final day, who by then should have wrapped up 4th spot, plus Wenger will be thinking about the Cup Final the following week. Could that be Norwich's one last hope?

Actually, scrap what I said in the above post. Norwich have the look of a side heading down. They have been dismal at Old Trafford this evening.

One of Sunderland, Cardiff or Fulham will save themselves.

and the way Sunderland are going you would have to think it could be them. Can they perform against fellow strugglers though?

So it's Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich for me.

Cardiff could escape and replace Sunderland if they win there tomorrow.

Sunderland, bottom at Christmas, are favourites to escape IMO:)

Another game ruined by that unfair double punishment rule.

Unless it is a dangerous tackle, I don't think it is necessary to send a player off and give a penalty for the same incident.

Baffling, Dowd plays on as he believes Wickham (although fouled) still has a clear goalscoring opportunity, only for the attack to peter out and then rule a clear goalscoring opportunity has been denied.

I thought it was the correct decision as there turned out to be no advantage.

Good to see a ref not expecting a player to fall over to give the foul.

If you don't give the red then there is no incentive for the defender not to make the foul and then take your chances on the penalty.

They could change the rule and make it that the player is sent off if the penalty does not result in a goal. That would make the defender think twice before making a challenge.

They might still need another win if Fulham beat Palace and draw at Stoke or Norwich beat Arsenal. If they only draw against West Brom then that will put a lot of pressure to win on the match against Swansea.
